The Boathouse at Oakhurst Olives

Loved it had an amazing stay

Where do we start on what we liked about the place! The Boathouse is an absolutely lovely getaway and we will definitely be back - some highlights for us were: - Dewald the farm manager was really helpful and friendly + everyone on the farm greets you with a warm smile and wave - The place is very clean and so well stocked - really had absolutely everything we needed + more. We really appreciated the small tokens like the complementary rusks, olive oil and olives. - The complementary olive tasting was such a treat and so informative. We definitely walked away with some delicious marmalade and tapernade - Oliver - the sweetest doggo - he actually guided us on a walk around the farm - we would definitely have taken some wrong turns if this cute caretaker was not around. He would even come back for us if he walked too far ahead! - The resident pair of giant kingfishers - so beautiful to watch in action (and were lifers for us) and we had the female kingfisher sit on the balcony railing the one morning! There were many other beautiful birds all round - The main living area is definitely our favorite - one is able to open up the sliding doors completely and enjoy lovely panoramic views of the farmlands, mountains and dam from the couch! The pool table also turned out to be a great addition we had lots of fun I could go on but really everything was great - very clean, comfortable bed, couches, huge fireplace (which would be great during winter), large braai area etc. Would highly recommend this place without hesitation

Peace and quiet. Very attentive hosts and helpful farm managers. Loved the horses grazing outside the house. And Oliver the dog was friendly and obedient. The added bonus is the olive tasting on the farm, which was delicious and informative. The great walks on the farm were well worth doing. The views and privacy are also worth mentioning. Altogether an amazing weekend!

Everything was perfect, thank you. We took our own braai grid and utensils. The wood was supplied and plentiful.

This place is absolutely amazing! The setting couldn't be more beautiful, right next to the dam. What a pleasure it was to wake up in the morning and overlooking the dam! The view from the deck was superb. Everything we needed was there and the pool table was an added bonus. We had so much fun playing that we forgot about the time! Of course, the inflatable hot water tub/jacuzzi was also amazing and relaxing. It was lovely to sit in it and watch the sun go down. Unfortunately the wind was very unpleasant, so we didn't go kayaking on the dam. It would have been lovely. We also loved it when the dog came to visit us. He stayed with us for quite a while. The horses were adorable too and the night sounds, especially, were awesome. Would we go back? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Everything was great. Maybe a full lenth mirror would be nice. Otherwise, no faults. Leaving to go home was what we didn't like.

The setting is sublime. Nature at its most breathtaking. A combination of mountains, dams, streams and farm life.

We liked everything.

We had a wonderful breakaway at The Boathouse. Waking up to such a beautiful view was the perfect way to reset and appreciate the charm of Tulbagh. The dam is peaceful and filled with birdlife, creating a truly tranquil atmosphere. We enjoyed a relaxing evening braai with more than enough firewood provided, and the hot tub was a perfect way to unwind. The host was friendly and accommodating. I’d highly recommend this spot for anyone needing a peaceful escape from the city or just some quiet time to recharge.

Kitchen appliances ( kettle and coffee machine ) are rather outdated

The location is great, close to town and wine farms. Surrounded by beautiful mountains. Loved the olives and fresh flowers. The house has lots of space and I loved the fireplace. Thank you for all the wood.

The hot tub looked a bit different than on the photos. We thought it was more like a jacuzzi, but it was an inflatable hot tub. Still nice and warm. The photo's also does not really indicate how close the boathouse is to other buildings.
