The Penrallt Country House Hotel

Property was really nice, staff were very friendly.

Wonderful location. Great for taking the dog with us.

Thought it was a bit expensive to take the small dog just for one night when they don’t provide anything for them ( treats , poop bags etc ) we always take our own so not needed just thought it would have been a nice touch . It’s also a shame that the restaurant doesn’t open if the is less than 6 people dining ( although I can understand why ) would of been useful to have had a microwave in our room or access to one in the main hotel.

The house and viewed were beautiful, but a good 40 minute walk into Aberporth. We were not allocated a room in the main house, but allocated a damp room with an uncomfortable bed in the dog friendly cottage to the side of the house. The waitress in the morning was so lovely, chatty and really helpful. The food was a basic standard.

I found the drinks expensive almost 20 pounds for just 2 drinks. I did not appreciate the smell of damp in the room, we kept the window open all the time in an attempt to reduce the condensation, with little success. The bed was so uncomfortable, hard and lumpy.. We took the opportunity to eat at the restaurant on the only night they served food. It was Saturday evening and the meal was nice, basic but nice. We paid for the meal and drinks at the end of the evening. When we checked out of the hotel we were presented with a large food bill. I questioned this, showing our receipt as proof of payment. The manager did remove the bill, but looked annoyed we challenged the bill and gave no apology for attempting to over change us. Please do not stay at this Hotel. Aberporth is a beautiful place, stay there.

Location

Dirty rooms, filthy carpets, dirty bed linen, one star food hygiene rating, rude staff, staff vaping openly indoors in public areas. No heating in rooms, WiFi not working. Asked on arrival for an extra £10 per person for cycles

Nothing very well looked after . Property well maintained. Staff were extremely courteous. Responsive to needs. Food was good we were comfortable. Highly reccomend.
