Quite surprised that no reviews mentioned the very frequent power cuts (the whole of San Juan area not just here). Brownouts happened around 4 times a day at irregular times so it was hard to plan your day. This meant the air conditioning not being available, which meant a hot night’s sleep and also the emergency lights coming on. The room was unbearably hot during the day so we were forced to go out quite early. No power also meant no water as the pump was electricity driven, which affected the toilet, taps and shower. There was always a bit of delay from when the power came on to the water coming back. Ended up having bucket showers the whole time. Also bear in mind our toilet never flushed and required manual flushing with a bucket, which was also a problem due to no water… After a few days we learned to always have a bucket of water filled. It’s an unfortunate situation as the staff were all very friendly and helpful. I understand that Siquijor is a small island but if we knew this would happen that frequently we would have stayed somewhere with generators instead. There were at least 2 other couples we spoke to that ended up leaving early. The huts are also quite susceptible to noise. We had pigeons crawling on our roof all night which felt like they were inside with us. There was also a large Filipino family staying that woke us up early every morning. Overall a pretty disappointing time from what seemed like a nice stay. We booked 5 nights so we could relax a little bit but for most of the stay we were without electricity, water or signal.

There is a lovely garden space with fresh drinking water provided. The bedroom is spacious and the property has a nice front porch. When the electricity and running water is working this is a pleasant stay.

This property ranks so poorly because of its lack of means for dealing with ‘brownouts’ or power cut/blackouts. This property has no generator (which is not in the description) and so when there is no power there is no running water, no AC/fan and no lighting. There is an emergency light which works for about an hour but is very bright so if a power cut happens in the middle of the night this will wake you up. On our first night we woke up sweating, with no light and no functioning toilet. The staff were not very apologetic for this. They explained this happens frequently and they have no way of knowing how long it will last. Out of 3 nights stay we had power for approximately 8 hours of this. There were also large numbers of ants and some cockroaches in the apartment. I appreciate the property has no control over power cuts but we chose this property as it was advertised as having AC and we would not have chosen it had it mentioned that this there is no AC most of the time. I understand having a generator is not commonplace in Siquijor but believe this should be communicated on the listing.

Really lovely little place to stay when travelling to Siquijor. The huts were such a great design, great sized room, clean bathroom, nice seating area outside the rooms. The owner Evelyn and her staff were all amazing, super friendly and helped us with recommendations of things to do on the island, bike hire and also extending our stay. Highly recommend staying here!

We love the location. Its in San Juan area so its near restaurants and beaches.

Unscheduled brownout

I like how friendly the people are. Super accommodating. The Place is near to some of the attractions and great places to drink. The staff made sure we had an amazing stay giving us a couple of advice and suggestions on where to go. They also offer butane, you can cook your own meal which is super helpful if you are on a budget.

I think the internet could've been better. It sometimes crashes and would be a bit slow. I am sure they are working on having a generator in the future. Electricity sometimes goes out for more than an hour to 4 hours so it would be good if they have a generator

I will definitely come back here. It was a truly wonderful experience in every way. Its proximity to the beach and central spots, the uniquely arranged rooms, and the warm-hearted owner who tried her best to help with everything honestly put me in an emotional mood. There’s also a lovely garden, and the sweetest cat welcomes you there. If I had to give any negative point, it would be that I already miss this place.

Nice garden, aircon was working, and it’s not far away from the main road.
