Beautiful historic hotel in Colombo, staff we amazing and the hotel facilities we wonderful.

The core of the hotel is a 19 th century house that was the birthplace of Sri Lanka’s first Prime Minister. This very comfortable boutique hotel, with spacious rooms and a faultlessly pleasant and helpful staff, is a great base for a visit to Colombo. Laid back yet elegant. Breakfasts were to die for— creative options, cooked to order to the standards of what by night is one of the country’s top restaurants. I’d stay there again in a heartbeat. Bravo.

It was an incredible stay at a truly excellent hotel. Couldn't fault it!

Arriving after midnight, really tired, to be welcomed and introduced to an 80+ square meter residence with massive high ceilings, made e the start of our week so relaxing. Everything was no problem. Staff in abundance awaiting our call. Privacy within one accommodation. We hardly saw another soul. Meals first class. Bar, library, meeting rooms and pool at your leisure. Front desk so helpful. Thick walls so no road or neighbour noise. Overall: visit UGA Residence in Colombo for your really special occasion.

Staff are really lovely. Not a large establishment as there are only 11 rooms as it is a boutique hotel. Neighbourhood is a bit quiet and remote.

wonderful inner city retreat close to Park St Mews. What really sets it apart (aside from the impeccable decor, lovely rooms, delightful food and beautiful and tranquil pool) is the exceptional staff. Service in a lot of hotels can be very hit or miss, but this was definitely above par. Really, really nice and attentive staff added to the overall experience greatly. Highly recomend and I would stay again.

I had high expectations of the this hotel. as it was highly rated. The front office and house keeping service was a bit dismal The hotel has only 10 rooms and you would have thought everything would be in top condition. There is a small courtyard attached to the room. It was never swept, and the chairs were covered with dust. This could be turned into a lovely private sit out area but not so. On the day of arrival the wifi didn't work in the room, it took couple of phone calls and the whole evening for it to get sorted out. The following day I asked for an iron and ironing board, it never arrived. The rooms weren't cleaned everyday. The bed sheets appeared to be discoloured, not crispy white, and there were mosquitoes in the room. My son had food poisoning and the following day I was throwing up too. Something in the food here here wasn't agreeing with us. I wanted to extend one more day, to give us a chance to recover and the front office told me I should do this online as that gave the best price. I didn't think, this was helpful or good customer service. My son was sick about 8 times and I had to take him to a doctor to get medicated. The hotel lobby area is kept beautifully clean with soft music . The entire property is dimly lit to give a romantic feel. If you have children this is not a good place to stay. As the food menu don't cater for kids, even though they will accommodate your requests for simple dishes. There were mosquitoes in the room, which further annoyed.

We stayed at Residence for 4 nights. First stop during first time to Sri Lanka. The hospitality provided by the staff was fantastic. They could not do enough for us. We did not come with firm travel plans and were looking for local guidance which was not really forthcoming however all in all we had a great time. The residence is in a central location and easy to find. It is as the pictures portray.

Spacious and beautifully appointed room and bathroom. If anything the bathroom was too big - the soap and shampoo shelf was five or six feet away from the shower head! A minor complaint, it was a very comfortable room. The hotel itself is very elegantly decorated and the service is impeccable. I had dinner in the restaurant one evening and the food was excellent. My only reservation about the hotel, is that there was no security on the WiFi system.
