Evidence of the effort made to provide simple cosy accomodation. The enclosed porch area was great, as a wet-weather alternative to the outdoor seating & spa pool offerings. Enjoyed the birds & stunning view.

Surprised by the traffic noise throughout the night.

We arrived at Petite Suite on a rainy day, which made for a less-than-ideal experience. The front room was wet, and it was difficult to reach the toilet without getting our feet wet. The constant noise from truck traffic right outside was a major disturbance — we weren’t able to sleep at all. Unfortunately, the poor sound insulation didn’t help, as the hut is made of wood and sits directly above a busy road with non-stop heavy vehicles. We’ve traveled extensively throughout New Zealand, and this was the most challenging place we stayed. We had hoped for a restful break after a long trip, but unfortunately didn’t get any rest at all. If the house were more soundproof, it could be a pleasant place to stay — especially on a sunny day when you can enjoy the lovely lake view right in front. However, unless you’re used to heavy traffic noise, we wouldn’t recommend it for relaxation or recovery. On the positive side, the hut was very clean, check-in was super easy, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Parking right in front of the suite was also super convenient. We also appreciated the welcome touches like coffee, tea, and milk. We didn’t use the pool, as it isn’t private, and with the traffic noise and open setting, it didn’t feel very relaxing.

Clean and tidy. I am sure a younger couple would enjoy this on a fine night. But stay away if it is windy and cold!

We had no idea the toilet and shower were in an attached room. To access the toilet on a cold blustery night, we had to go outside and get wet. We had to put towels on the floor to dry our feet after being outside to the toilet. To make it worse, the toilet ran out of gas and we couldn't use it until the owner came an hour later and replaced the gas cylinder.
