St Charles Hotel Downtown Hudson

A number of other hotels in Hudson were booked. We chose St. Charles. It was acceptable although a bit run down. They are working to refresh the facilities, but it is clearly a work in progress. Beds were EXCELLENT. Shower GOOD. Not enough hangers. Storage cabinets almost falling apart. Good things and bad.

This is real gem that needs some work but still is comfortable & charming in its way. Great location. The staff & management are fantastic.

A/C was noisy so it was difficult to sleep. Not much "breakfast" (no juice or milk) but Hudson Roastery next door has good eats & coffees. Downtown location is good for walking, shopping & restaurants.

We arrived at the hotel, and we were grateful to have parking and an intown location. There was a confusion about our room. Apparently the room we had reserved had been given to someone else. The night manager called the manager and they managed to find a good solution, but it took about 35 - 45 minutes before we could be settled in the room. The manager was courteous and tried to accommodate us. The hotel is convenient to downtown Hudson, and there have been obvious cosmetic work done on the property, it is still somewhat dingy.

The rooms have been somewhat more modernized but all is cosmetic. This hotel needs a complete tear out and renovation to justify the prices they charge. Hudson is an expensive address, but this hotel does not have a standard that merits the price. I would never rate it above a ** or *** property. The breakfast was a chain hotel type of breakfast. And though the staff were very helpful, the hotel is understaffed and during the weekend if the hotel is very busy, there is insufficient coverage. This is an owner and management problem, not a staff problem.

Great staff, very helpful and enthusiastic. Perfect if you have a dog. Great location downtown. No frills, but everything we needed, and the coffee was pretty good too. We would stay here again.
