The Orpen Kruger, Cork Tree Collection

What a joy to have experienced the hospitality of The Orpen Kruger, and the care and attention of the staff, who doted on us. They clearly love working there, and pour their passion into making guests feel welcome and content, from the small things to the major factors affecting the quality of a stay. As an example, when staff noticed that we preferred hot chocolate for our morning drinks, they started packing hot chocolate for our game drives, instead of the standard coffee and tea. They were quick to notice small preferences at meals and ensure we got what we wanted even before asking. Veronica, the manager, is clearly a strong leader making sure everything works perfectly, but she is also a loving motherly figure who chatted with us and provided us with good advice about things to do and see. And we have not even talked about the incredible facilities! We have stayed at many lodges, from the small, boutique ones, focused on a wild feel, to the large-scale assembly line catering to large groups. The Orpen has modern facilities and all the creature comforts, yet also a nice feeling of wilderness. Being outside the park, there are no animals one can see on the grounds, but the park gate is within a short walk (not that we would recommend walking). The main lodge gate is close to the road, so access is a breeze, but the chalets are secluded among trees and feel like a wilderness lodge should. Manyeleti and Kruger are both next door to The Orpen, allowing the opportunity to visit both in a short time. We took game drives with the lodge guides in Manyeleti, where we saw lots of animals, even though the weather was rather rainy and gloomy. (The lodge provides lined ponchos, both warm and rain proof.) One afternoon, we drove our rental car into Kruger, which we found a bit more crowded, but also with good sightings. All in all, we felt pampered, saw lots of wildlife and had a wonderful time, despite cold and rainy weather. We cannot wait to return to The Orpen.

Nothing negative comes to mind. We stayed at three other different lodges on this trip, many of them more luxurious and more expensive. The Orpen was our favorite.

The staff were incredible! Always catering to every need to ensure you are as comfortable (and well fed!) as possible. The food was fantastic, offering sizeable portions of deliciously cooked South African dishes. Overall, a wonderful stay that I'd highly recommend to anyone.

Che dire…l’hotel e le stanze sono una perla sia dal punto di vista architettonico sia per accuratezza negli spazi e nell’arredamento. La pulizia, la qualità dei servizi e la cortesia dello staff sono eccellenti. Il cibo (sia la colazione sia la cena) sono preparati sul momento. Consiglio vivamente il Game drive organizzato dall’hotel nella vicina riserva che permette di godere di un’esperienza diretta e sicuramente meno affollata della fauna locale (noi siamo stati particolarmente fortunati, eravamo da soli in un mezzo da 10 posti e siamo persino riusciti a vedere il ghepardo!).

Hier moet je heen! Alles is goed verzorgd, de kamers, het eten, de game drives. Wij zijn hier 4 nachten geweest en zouden zeker terug komen bij een volgend bezoek aan Zuid-Afrika. Het personeel is ook top, niks is teveel en ze zijn altijd vrolijk. Nogmaals dank voor het fijne verblijf.
