Pelourinho Apartments by An Island Apart

The positioning was good, not far from the ocean, we managed to find parking easily too for the nights and overall a very positive experience there

Few remarks: we have been notified in many ways during self check in and on the website of the managers of the location to be quiet during the night, 22-8 which is a good rule for preventing issues, but I must admit 2 nights there was someone in the building drilling and making noise of construction works once at 23 and once after midnight. not for some hours, ok, for like 30 minutes or so but it was definitely not ok. Another thing I would also want to notify future customers is the space and positioning for the table, we managed to have dinner in two cooking ourselves and it was fine but had to reposition a bit the sofa, find more room for the chairs, the space is enough and ok but definitely not extra.

We could check in earlier for free which was really nice. The communication was quite quick and easy. The apartment is in a nice location, close to the city center and bus stops.

There is a lot of noise in the house and from the street. There is nice bistro downstairs which stays open until late and you can hear a lot of chatter, music and moving of furniture. Also when other people staying in the building come or go you can hear every conversation from the hall and the main door opening/closing with a lot of noise. For us it was overall okay, but for some guests it might b annoying especially with small kids.

Lack of sound proofing-it was rather noicy, smell in the bathroom, small fridge

Location

There was a water leak which flooded the floor overnight and shorted all the electricity. I tried to call their emergency number but no one answered. There was load construction from 0830h only a few metered away from my window / I was not informed about this in advance. Some of the fabrics (couch, blinds etc ) were stained. There was another persons pubic hair which in the shower, which was a bit grotty

Cleanliness and comfort

They gave us the first floor apartment, a window was loose (though it was fixed right upon reporting it to the staff) but the house is situated on a restaurant street and had a restaurant just down below. The noise at night was horrific of people and tables and chairs dragged around. There was also since 8am construction right next to the house building, so sleeping was definitely an issue as noise insulation was terrible.

The location is good

There were a number of issues The Wi-Fi did not work for the entire trip because the hosts gave us the incorrect Wi-Fi password till the day before we left… They still insist that the Wi-Fi worked even though we didn’t have the right password to use it The shower leaked every time we used it… It was brought to their attention and they said they could not fix it until we left The seat was extremely loose… Came to fix it, but it was extremely loose again so the hardware needs to be replaced There was mould in the shower mould on the walls… I’ve sent the host pictures, but they refused to respond We called their support line 2 days in a row, and they never picked up the phone Overall, a very, very bad experience which they are not taking accountability for
