AUVery attentive staff, yoga classes, and onsite cafe that was Devine!! Got to hang out in the hammock all day and is close to the centre of town and beaches.
It was very hot in the dorm at night despite a fan for every bed. Maybe it was a particularly hot week?
ZAI had a great stay at Makai Surf House. The staff were kind and helpful, always around if you needed anything but never overbearing. The location is ideal — close to the beach but still quiet and peaceful. The house and garden are really well kept, with a calm, relaxed atmosphere. I also met some genuinely nice people while I was there, which made the experience even better. Would happily come back.

USDavid and his girlfriend were super nice and extremely helpful!! The hostel is a short minute walk to the beach and all of the cafés. Super chill and cozy vibes with hammocks, rooftop yoga and a café within the hostel. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
NLSpacious, social, and super chill vibe at MAKAI! The daily cleaning kept everything fresh, and having both a café and kitchen made it perfect for a longer stay. Great atmosphere to meet people or just relax in comfort. Great value for the price. Easygoing energy all around—would definitely come back!
GBI initially booked just one night in the dormitory room but ended up staying for three. I felt so at home here. The bed was incredibly comfortable and clean, as were all the communal areas. The receptionist was warm, welcoming, and really added to the homely atmosphere of Makai Surf House. She was always happy to help and took care of everything I needed without any fuss. If I ever return to Sri Lanka, I’ll definitely be coming back here.
