La Regina Historic House

No words to describe Matera and the beauty and peacefulness it instills. The house is like a sanctuary from the busy streets of tourists. The most incredible view, we didn't leave the rooftop for hours upon arrival. Just needed to take it all in! The house itself is so tastefully done with beautiful antiques, a mix between old and new. Waking up in the canopy bed with the view at your feet- again, no words! Simona is a very responsive host and answered all of our questions. We would come back in an instant!

Wish we had more than the two nights. Matera is more than the Sassi, could have explored for days!

Matera is a very special place, so it merits a room with a view… the view is spectacular and the apartment is perfect. We spent a lovely morning on the roof terrace soaking up the October sun. Simona went above and beyond. I messed up our arrival timings and she sacrificed her evening to collect us with her dog, Billy the Beagle. She was wonderfully patient and guided us to a supermarket just before it closed at 8.30pm. She takes her job seriously and did all she could to ensure we were happy. The apartment is filled with period furniture and all that you need for laundry and cooking. I can’t imagine staying anywhere more lovely in this magical town.

This is a truly historic and beautiful apartment. 2 gorgeous bedrooms, one of which has views directly onto the Sassi. Terrace above is fantastic for early morning sunrise and early evening glass of vino before heading out for dinner, or not!! Simona is a gorgeous just, warm & very welcoming. A fantastic place to stay.. thank you for everything, we loved Matera. Location is suburb.. Tip.. Go out early (from 7-8) to wander through the Sassi when it’s not too busy, magical!!)

Beautiful historic house with an amazing view. Contact with the owners was very good and they were very flexible with arrival and leaving. Cleaning was spotless! Fabulous!
