Grand Lake Hotel

The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to accommodate my nephew, who injured his foot before we arrived. The place was very cool and rustic/reteo, but also clean and comfortable.

Friendly staff, comfortable room. It's not luxury or anything, but it's super close to the CT Ren Faire venue and it was a lovely place to stay for a night. There are very well-cared-for kitties roaming the property!

I'd been counting on having an iron in the room since most hotels seem to have them and it was a little inconvenient to not have one (still a great experience though).

Adorable spot in a beautiful, serene location. Manager and staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Excellent gym on site, both our rooms felt fresh, clean and comfortable. Spent one night with a friend next door and one night alone. Felt very safe as a solo woman traveler. Fridge and microwave in room, and bins of plastic silverware in the lobby were appreciated, since there are not many food options in the immediate vicinity. Loved the feeling of going back in time a bit, and glimpsing the former glory days of the resort.

Location is under new ownership, and will be even better once renovations are complete, specifically the pool. Each room has a microwave and fridge, but the coffee maker is in the lobby. It was a short walk to the coffee maker, but it was a surprising choice to include 2 appliances in the rooms but not the coffee maker.

Well loved location, the man at the counter was very friendly and polite. Room was clean and comfortable. Halls to rooms were only accessible by keycard which was nice. (Also very friendly cat family roams the property outside and greet you :) )

The outside of the property could use some maintenance. Would love to see the pool back up and running. Not much to complain about really

We liked the proximity to the renaissance Faire. It was less than 10 minutes away. The man who checked us in was abrupt but friendly. We also liked that there were several stray cats on the property who were very friendly and cuddly

Our room reeked of cat urine. The carpet, the chairs and headboard were stained in many spots. Bed was hard as a rock. There were only two small lamps in the room and one of them did not work. There were no available plugs near either side of the bed to plug in a phone charger. The room did not have an alarm clock. When taking a shower in the morning, somebody in a nearby room must have flushed their toilet and we lost all water pressure and all hot water. There is a Keurig coffee maker in the lobby but there is no water available to fill the reservoir . We had another single and a couple traveling with us who booked their own rooms. The couple had similar complaints about the condition of their room. And the single traveler got a beautiful room right across the hall from us that looked like it came out of a catalog. Making the poor conditions of the other two rooms that much worse to tolerate.
