Heron Hideaway at First Light Rangihaeata Retreat

Quirky with a lovely view. It was a good place to spend a very rainy day resting.

There are a few traps for elderly customers (I'm 85). Path to the toilet should be more even and much better lit at night. Steps to the shower are very steep, but the view makes up for it. Could be a safety issue

Everything was awesome, very accessible to top locations within Golden Bay, eco friendly and peaceful. Best place where aesthetics and peaceful Nature meet. Hearing the Herons is a once in a lifetime experience that should be experienced by everyone.

The outdoor shower is great (could not figure it out at first though) and the room and the view are very beautiful and picturesque The kitchen is well equipped, but a little dirty

The outhouse toilet, while in theory a good idea, is chock full of insects, especially at night No mosquito nets on the windows, so you can choose between getting stung to death or spending the night in a hot stuffy room The oven worked great, but there are no oven mitts All of this is fixable however, so I hope they listen to the feedback

Clean accommodation in a beautiful, tranquil setting. Fell in love with the outdoor shower - nothing like a bit of birdsong while cleaning up for the day or getting ready for an adventure! More than enough space for a romantic getaway. Barely saw other people, so it felt very peaceful and restful.

No milk or coffee for arrival, but there were some lovely teas. And it's only a few kms down the road from the store anyway.

Absolutely stunning spot to stay, felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. Place was very clean and bed was very comfy. Hosts were super accommodating too! Fiona was able to help us with any requests we had. A perfect retreat away. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook and the outdoor shower was gorgeous with heaps of hot water.

the only feedback I could give was that the towels were a wee bit on the rough side but other than that it was a perfect stay!

Such a cute and well designed space. Beautiful and well equipped kitchen, very nice views and lots of windows to let in natural light. Clean, comfortable and very private. Well located between both Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Park so lots of options on things to do.

Everything was almost perfect but I wish the water was just a bit hotter especially because it was windy during our stay so it can get a bit chilly in the outdoor shower.

Wonderful location and neat as a pin. The outdoor shower was a highlight.

We didn't realise there wasn't any coffee or milk etc. Possibly an oversight on our part.

Beautiful stay with amazing views and scenery all around. The house is placed perfectly to take in the sea views on one side and forestry on the other. Amazing location really close to the town area while also being near the main road to jump on and head off exploring. Although the view is lovely and open the house is still very private with fencing and barriers blocking all the right areas.

Nothing really to note we did struggle to get one door locked but other than this all was perfect.
