AUThis is a great place if you want to be away from the crowds of town. As they say you get a nice view over looking Lake Como and the mountains. Bellagio is without doubt in a beautiful place. Bit disappointed George didn't invite me around for cocktail hour at his place, mind you, I didn't let him know I would be there at the same time he was.
Nice views do come with a price though. In this case, it's a 15 to 20-minute walk into town. The good news is, it's all downhill. Now while I don't want to say it, that means after a long day walking around town and exploring, shopping or maybe a long lunch or so, it means it's all uphill on the way back. Now if you're fit, hey no problem. However, if you're like us, not as fit as we would like to be and in our 50's early 60's and carry a few extra kilo's...hmm, let's call it grams, it was uncomfortable. Add to that we had 30-degree temperatures, so we struggled. Now there is a small train that runs around but good luck trying to get on it in the peak season. Of course, you could drive down town and park but you would want to be an early riser. Or, you pick straws, and the loser... sorry I mean winner, goes and gets the car to pick the rest up. Speaking of heat, this place has no A/C. That was our mistake not reading the site properly. This brings me to one thing why I would not stay here or any place that uses "VIKEY". This is an online check-in and this was our first experience with it. Let me say it was a pain to use, sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. I spent hours at times "trying", because sometimes it wouldn't accept details and I would have to go right back to the beginning and start again. I'm on holidays, I don't want to waste my time filling in forms just so the Italian government can get their tax.
GREverything was great, clean, kitchen well equipped. Hosts gave plenty of recommendations!
