Very close to historical centre, included breakfasts are tasty and in good portion. Definitely worth of what you pay. Good wifi and nice friendly staff.

Gets noisy. Especially if you have neighbors, who are longing at least for triplets at least triplets, you can hear absolutely everything. And what if you have more than one such neighbors at once.. 🙂 Also early in the morning there is lots of noise from all around the property.

Location was great - walking distance to everything. Room was clean and had basic stove to make a cuppa. Staff were friendly and worked hard to understand us (learning Spanish now!) Airport transfer was efficient and friendly. Breakfast was in another building and only one choice each day but we were happy with our breakfast and coffee.

Would be helpful to have an information sheet about the hotel - breakfast details etc.

Lovely hosts and cheap simple accommodation

There is not roof top/ balcony or kitchen as per the photos unless you book an entire apartment - seperate from the single rooms. So no where to relax at the accommodation except in simple room with no windows.

We stayed in 2 different rooms at Casa Cristal over 3 nights, one was upstairs with a window and private kitchenette, basic amenities but nice to relax in after doing the Acatenango Hike. Great (and varied) breakfast option every morning a short walk away from the accommodation and location is a convenient short walk away from town.

The second room we stayed in was downstairs with no window, only stayed for one night so it was fine but felt a bit damp and dark. I think your experience here will totally depend on which room you book to stay in.

The Hostel was really good. We have been in an outpost two streets away from the main hostel. The Guys had been really nice to us (booked the volcano tour, booked nightbus to flores (really good), allowed shower after tour, good breakfast, baggage parked there over the volcano tour). The inner city is small, so the location was perfect.

Although the staff didn’t speak English they tried their best to help us. Google translate came in very handy. There was no fan our first night however they provided us with one the following day. It was a little too strong for the size of the room but we appreciated it nonetheless. The tv is big and the wifi is good. We couldn’t work the Netflix etc but our chrome cast worked fine. The bathroom is cleaned every day. There is filtered water provided and the staff even helped us get a paint stain out of my partner jeans and let us use their washing machine for them. The bedsheets were clean and the shower was hot.

The walls are paper thin, the staff are extremely loud early hours of the morning and even late at night. It sounded like they were shouting to each other from either ends of the hall way. Sometimes the shower was actually too hot, almost scolding hot! The pillows are very thing but we like fuller pillows or even two each. The address provided wasn’t the address at all. We eventually found it but it was very difficult.

Big breakfast good wifi. Very close to the centre and local market.

Privacy and location.

Some details in the apartment/room can improve.. but you get what you paid..
