A wonderful stay at Mr Jahiding's homestay! The room was clean and comfortable, with an unbeatable location in the center of Komodo Island village. He was very welcoming, offered an excellent dinner and breakfast cooked by his wife, and perfectly organized a private island-hopping boat trip back to Labuan Bajo (expensive but worth every penny). He is a ranger at the Loh Liang Park where you can see Komodo dragons, and has plenty of good contacts and recommendations All around an exceptional experience

Friendly host, amazing location, once in a lifetime trip. You will get places in the national park all to yourself before and after the boat tours leave. We saw so many dragons, sea turtles, manta rays, and other wildlife. The home was very comfortable and food was delicious. I would recommend this to anyone looking to explore the national park in a unique way- so much better than the boat tours. Note: bring 1-2 quick dry towels with you for the beach and shower. It’s also worth mentioning it’s a shared bathroom if there are other guests in the homestay. It wasn’t an issue, but I didn’t know before booking.

"Feel like home"

9.0

Wonderful homestay owned by a warm-hearted hard-working young father of three children who is also a ranger. Staying in Jahiding’s felt like home, though the facilities not advanced due to how developed Komodo Island was, you basically had everything you needed for being in a village like this. And his wife is a great chef too! Lunch and dinner were satisfying. Looking forward for his new homestay being open next year!

The water in the shower could be hotter and bigger flow

"You will regret not visiting here at least once in your life."

Do not book your boat tour, book this instead ! The host, Mr Jahiding, will be your tour guide. Everything is settled the moment you land in Labuan Bajo. A car will be there waiting to bring you to the harbour and a boat is chartered just for you to Komodo island and back. If you need a quick getaway and want the best wildlife and scenic experience, this is what you need. Komodo Village has one of the friendliest people you can ever meet. They are extremely welcoming and treat you just like family. The itinerary for your stay is so much better than the boat tours where so many activities are packed within your short stay on the boat. Living like a local, you can decide how long you spend snorkelling with the manta rays or just sitting by these prehistoric dinosaurs in the komodo national park (komodo dragons). During my stay, I managed to play football with the locals which was an experience on its own. The locals are so friendly that one of them even invited me to his personal home for a meal which was so heart warming. I was lucky enough to be invited to join the men to go on a spearfishing trip in the middle of the night which is not something your tour agencies can offer. Not to mention, I also caught my own dinner on my second day during snorkelling at one of the most remote beaches in the world. Doubt your tour boat allows for that. Everyone should experience this at least once and I would reccomend a good length of stay would be 4D3N which is perfect but 5D4N for the ultimate Komdo experience. Look for Mr Jahiding and I am confident he will make your experience here even better than mine. He speaks great english so communication was not an issue. You will enjoy the best and most delicious local food cooked by your very own home chef too (his wife). A very sad departure but I am confident I will be back. To Komodo FC, let's kick again one more time !

"Wonderful experience"

7.0

Very nice location in the middle of desa Komodo. The host was very friendly and arrange very good trips to several place where we can see the Komodo dragons in there natural environments and do hiking. Everyday they prepare us lunch to take with us during the trips. Food they prepare for us was delicious. We surely enjoyed our being there. Jahiding planned the excursions together with us and that was great. We didn’t need to hurry. We did everything in our own pace. We went to the Komodo national Park where we do a trail (not a long one) and we saw 2 Komodo dragons. We also went to the Pjnk beach, pulau Padar do hiking… on our way back to Labuan Bajo we visited Taka Makassar, Manta point, where we saw a big Manta and after that we went to Pulau Kelor. For all these trips we used a private boat arranged by the host. We look back on a wonderful experience.

We spent 4 unforgettable days in this homestay. The location is excellent and staying there is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and the people of the town. The food is delicious and plentiful. Jahiddi organized a full 4-day tour for us with very diverse activities: trekking, snorkeling with turtles, mantas..., visits to dragons, etc., including a private trip from Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island. We recommend it 100%, as you will live a very complete experience!

"Stay near the Komodo Dragons and get to see them up close and personal!"

10.0

I got to see the Komodo Dragons and that basically says it all for me. However, this is a new concept - to stay on Komodo Island, its a small village (nestled amongst the pier) and you stay with the Ranger and his family. We went out Dragon spotting almost immediately (the Dragons are not too difficult to find, a short walk from the homestay) at dusk and then again early morning. For me it was an experience of a lifetime to be so close to these incredible creatures, just me and the guide. The food was also AMAZING that is cooked by the family .... I had the best fish of my life (and i'm from NZ so I know good seafood....) and some seriously satisfying meals. It was a very short trip as the boat only leaves every other day so I had to go to continue my schedule. But wow. Dragons! I was a woman travelling alone and felt perfectly safe.

Was a great little adventure!
