"Very enjoyable experience, but be careful to arrange your travel in advance."

9.0

The accommodation and the food made for a wonderful experience.

Transport from Labuan Bajo to Komodo is a big issue. You can only get to the island by either the public boat - only available every two days and takes 4.5 hours (200k Rup each way) or private boat - 2 hours but costs $2.5 mill Rup each way. To enjoy your homestay you need to plan travel carefully. We didn’t.

Very friendly guest. If you want to do the trips around Labuan Bajo, sleep here, because he cand arrange your transfer to Komodo + the touristic spots around. He is a ranger in the National Park, knows the spots. We saw 7 dragons. Food cooked by his wife very delicious. Free Wi-Fi also.

Jahiding was an excellent host. Went out of his way to help with hikes to see the dragons, & also through the village to beaches, where we saw & swam with a dugong. Also organised our return to Labuan Bajo which included Padar island, pink beach & manta point. All meals were exceptional - we actually put on weight during our stay. Much more authentic experience of Komodo than doing crowded, rushed one day boat trip.

Wasn't easy to organise transfers to & from Labuan Bajo - but Jahiding did manage to help.

"If u wanna have Komodo dragon next door... you gotta stay here."

8.0

A stay in the middle of Komodo island, great location and very easy to see the dragons. Great conectivity fo the national park entrance and other sightseen spots in the complex. The host always very kind and pleased to help you anytime. Great home food and company.

During day time, inside the room it can get a little too hot. Better ventilaation could be needed.

"Very good"

8.0

We had a good organized trip at Komodo Village. Jahiding arranged everything for us since we could enjoy ourselves to the max. His wife did all the cooking en we really loved it. The private boat was really perfect and it brought us every where we want. We saw Komodo Dragons at the NP and nearby the village, really amazing. This was our program : first day, pick up from Labuan Bajo to Komodo Island, stay at a homestay. Second day tour to Padar Island, Long Beach, Manta Point, Taka Makasar and stay at a homestay. Third day of tour to Loh Liang to see Komodo dragons, Pink Beach, Namong Beach, stay at a homestay, Fourth day from Komodo village to Labuan Bajo with private boat. We travelled at late and early hours by plane and we were on time and that was perfect 👍. The boat took us in 2,5 hrs to Komodo Village and we saw the utmost splendid sunset. Never seen anything so beautiful.

Airco would be a big plus, no complaints!

Amazing experience staying in Komodo Village. Host was so easy to communicate with. He organised transport, trips, snorkelling and private Komodo Dragons tour for us. His wife was making delicious food for brekie, lunch and dinner. When we went out on the boat she gave us takeaway containers. Very thoughtful of them!

"A genuine and memorable experience"

10.0

We are a French couple and tried this genuine experience for 3 nights on beg December 2023. We are very happy and recommend it, but we believe it must be clear what to and not to expect. We hope the details below will help other travelers. First challenge is to contact Jahiding, the lovely host who is also a komodo ranger. You will get his WhatsApp once you book the stay. Once on the Island, Jahiding will take care of you from A to Z, he stayed with us as the guide during the tours we planed with him and the captain. It's a private small boat (meaning not big) and you can choose where to go and how long you stay at each spot. We believe It was a privilege compared to other tours with dozens of people and timed visits. -Transportation The main challenge is to get to komodo Island with the "phantom" public boat that nobody knows about. It does exist and is actually located in a separate Harbour. Here is the GPS location : -8.484518,119.876788 The name is "TPI Kampung Ujung port". There is a smelly fish market to go through, not hard to miss. Price is 100k IDR if captain does not try to charge the tourist fee. You have to ask people around the boat if it is the correct one as there is no ticket to buy in advance nor any special desk. Just hope on the boat once you are sure it is the right one and pay when you arrive. The boat is mid size and around 20-30 people make the trip. It is not a ferry, it is much smaller, around 20 meters long and 4 meters wide and only one deck with shade. Transport takes 4h and is noisy (depends on the boat you have), travelers are komodo residents which are all very kind. Be prepared for basic confort, no seat no bench, just boat wood. No toilet break neither. The boat schedule as Jahiding told us is as such, and you will have to plan your stay based on this. From Labuan to Komodo Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Between 9am and 11am. From Komodo to Labuan Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday between 9am and 10am.
