Nice swimming area in the river in front of the guesthouse + the opportunity to spot Gibbons & monkeys from the guesthouse.

No electricity due to broken generator (but now solar panel and new generator available) Also ordering special food requests well in advance due to more remote location from Bukit Lawang.

I loved my stay here. The location is incredible - literally within the jungle. The staff are friendly and helpful, and took me out on a night jungle trek. I have never stayed anywhere like this, and I would recommend Back to Nature to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the jungle near Bukit Lawang. Truly a one of a kind accommodation.

The location of this place is amazing! It’s more remote than a lot of the other stays and that gives a really nice jungle feel to the location. Wonderful views, and possibility to swim/dip in the river. The food is simple but good, order on time or beforehand. The staff and the lodge also really take care of the environment, which is really good. It makes you feel connected to the surroundings as well. But the staff is what makes this stay so comfortable: very friendly people that deserve all the guests in the world! They also organised a jungle trek (2 days) and a raft ride back to the river on the last day.

I would definitely come back here, but you have to walk 2km (around 30-40 minutes) to get from the village to the lodge. It’s possible to hire someone in the village or ask the accommodation to do the first part by motorcycle and/or carry your stuff. We didn’t mind because it’s a beautiful walk along the river! Possible to do it on sneakers or sandals too. Food is simple but we really liked it.
