A bit far from the railway station

When you walk into the apartment, your 1st reaction will be "WOW". Very spacious apartment in a great location a short walk from the main squares and restaurants. Bologna is a great place to stay within easy reach by train to Venice and Florence. Davide is a fabulous host. Great communication and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Davide:-)

Great location and good customer service, despite being completely managed on WhatsApp.

The instructions to access the apartment were provided promptly but the whole procedure should be simplified. The electrical system and plug of the house are extremely old, many of these not working. No chance to use a shuko plug. The “air conditioning” is basically non existent as the portable air conditioning units are not blowing cold air but they just work as fan. Last but not least, there’s an unbelievably bad smell coming from the second bathroom at the second floor. A fragrance dispenser is located in the bathroom but it was out of battery so useless.

The decor and furniture

Owner told us the apartment was not in a restricted area and it’s is not true so be careful when you drive … No AC even though it was written there was .the apartment was like an oven Kitchen is not a kitchen no plates cups etc … Bad smell coming from the bathroom But the big issue is the neighborhood we didn’t feel safe very dirty a bar is downstairs with drunk people yelling all night impossible to sleep … Owner very unpleasant when we ask him about the AC and the restricted area false info We definitely will not come back

It's quite noisy from the surrounding buildings and apartments, where perhaps students and young people live. The bathroom looks worn. It would be nice to refresh it.

Very convenient location for exploring Bologna’s old town. A fantastically characterful place to stay.

Nighttime noise (the area is popular with students) was an issue, with noise making it hard to sleep on our first night until about 3am, with street cleaning then starting at 5am. We bought ear plugs from the pharmacy the next day which helped.

If you ask why this is a truly amazing place to stay, the clues are in the name: Art and Loft. Though some are prints, there are numerous paintings on the wall and the living room is full of ornaments, good quality, antique style furniture, including cosy bookcases, a twelve seat dining table and even a piano. The pièce de resistance though is the fabulous painted ceiling which is just one magnificent fresco. The lofty, spacious feel in this apartment comes from its double height ceiling which incorporates the mezzanine bedroom, so the fresco is visible from virtually everywhere. Double height windows let light flood in, as well as the noise from the alley-like street below, which gives the whole place a very genuine Italian feel. Though just adequate, the tiny kitchen area has only the very basics, but we didn’t mind as we had no intention of cooking anything with so many iconic Bolognaise cafés and restaurants just minutes away. The lovely master bathroom upstairs is let down, just a little bit, by the tiny shower, but there was a nice bath in the downstairs bathroom to compensate. Unlike many images of apartments and hotels I have viewed on-line, those of the Bologna Art Loft are very accurate and don’t overplay the property at all. In fact, we were pleased to discover that there is privacy between the two sleeping areas and the downstairs fold-down settee bed is effectively in a separate room. We didn’t meet our host Davide, but he was very attentive on WhatsApp and kindly left some espresso coffee capsules on our second day which made the whole experience that little bit more Italian.

Kitchen a bit basic and was not well stocked with glasses, crockery etc.

The appartment is in an old building, and it has a nice main room.

Very small kitchen, poorly equipped. There was a coffee machine there, but i couldn't find a coffee cup! Perhaps well hidden somewhere in the kitchen / appartment. There are 2 bathrooms in the appartment, but the upstairs one was smelly and had no soap. Also, the appartment has nothing to do with soundproof. I couldn't sleep at all in this appartment due to the noise on the street, with many people drinking and making noise... it started around 10 PM, stopped around 4 AM, but the noise continued with city cleaning machines. And, what is the most negative point from my perspective: the price was not well communicated by host. I had a "FINAL PRICE (taxes included)" communicated in my reservation, but I had to pay more (about + 15%) !!! I had no supplimentary services, which are normal to be added on top of it, but still I've been charged additional tax! Also, booking.com Support team is the worst one I have ever met !!! Responses are coming late, often after more than 1 week, and the only answer they are able to give is "sorry for incovenience" plus a surprising "Bologna has a new tax: tourist tax"! Wow, really amazing, I have never heard about city tourist tax (just a joke)...

The large apartment was beautiful, had great character, and was extremely comfortable. The large main bedroom, in a loft, had a nice dressing area and bath and an excellent bed. The living room was nicely furnished and a pleasant place to relax. The host, Davide, was extremely accommodating. He met us at the property to show us around and turn over the keys, was available via messaging for questions, called a taxi for us on departure, and called to make sure everything was in order.

Nothing about this excellent-value property will disappoint a guest.
