Al Barakah Mawaddah Hotel

When the 5 star hotel we booked cancelled our booking a few hours before our arrival for no apparent reason, we were in panic mode as most hotels were booked in this busy season. That’s when we found this hotel on booking.com. With the price we paid for it, my expectations were not very high but we needed a place to stay so we booked it. After my stay, I would say I am not as disappointed with this hotel as I was expecting. Also, at least they honored our booking and welcomed us. The positives: Location was unmatchable. Literally steps from the Grand Mosque and also with lots of food and shopping downstairs in the street. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The room cleaning staff provides you all you need. So 5 star for staff.

As other reviewers mentioned, the bathroom did have visible mold and the property is not smoke free with a lot of people smoking in the hallways due to which the rooms reeked of smoke odor. There was no sewage smell as some suggested. Room of 4 was very cramped with space barely to walk between beds. Our AC was chilling but the fan made a very annoying noise but we had to live with it. In short I thought we did get value for money in terms of staying so close to haram and shopping. With this price you cannot expect luxury. I hope the hotel takes notes of the negatives and can improve.
