Mt Highfield Farm Cottage

This was a real find just a few km from Waiau on part of the stunning alpine pacific touring route. The weather has turned nasty, we’d had a challenging bike ride and we relished the opportunity to relax and warm up by the fire plus do our washing in this delightful and beautifully decorated farm cottage. Claire and Barry are excellent convivial hosts. This would be great for a family group who wanted to explore the area for a weekend. We had to pull ourselves away after just one night. And the view. Simply stunning. Highly recommended.

The water pressure seemed a bit low, except in the shower where its was little jets. May need a new shower head.

Location was ideal for our work placement. The crew really appreciated the hosts and the home baking gift.

The view is magnificent, it is so many times better than in the photos. It is located on a hill in a commanding position up above the river valley with views over the river all the way to the mountain ranges. It is so wonderfully quiet and peaceful there. The cottage is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished with everything one needs, everything was sparklingly clean. It is located in a farm through a large wooden gate and up a gravel driveway, we made it up with no problems in a tiny Toyota aqua. The host is very nice and accommodating. It was really a wonderful stay.
