Ostello San Marco Cortona

This is a beautiful, renovated hostel which just reopened in April 2024. We had the only matrimonial/double bed for two with a private bathroom and shower. I have to say that the room was clean, large, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. There was also a place to hang clothes and lots of drawers. Towels and soap were also provided The best thing about the room was the beautiful (and very special) view of the Cortona countryside with a view of the lake. It was quiet and it didn't feel cold inside the building. There were just enough blankets and the room was warm enough (even with the window ajar) during the night we spent there in October. There were also enough lights and a small desk. The woman, Paola, who greeted us upon our arrival, was very kind and friendly and provided us with tips and all the information we needed. There was a lovely and good sized dining area which would make this place a great destination for big groups.

We had a private bathroom but all of the shared showers on the floor below us were not divided into male/female stalls---something for them to think about in the future or during summer months when I am sure the place will be packed. This place is definitely not for anyone who has trouble climbing stairs. There is no elevator and our room was on the top floor. There were two flights of stairs and four stairs in our room since the bed was upstairs from the entrance and the bathroom. Also, all those arriving by car need to be aware that Cortona is a medieval town and all of the roads are very narrow.

The location was good. The room was quiet and spacious. The staff there were very nice and friendly. The price was reasonable. Good accommodation in Cortona.

it's quiet and calm place for staying. they are not busy and i was happy to stay there. the staff is nice, and their facility such as toilet and shower are enough. booking .com says towel and linen needs extra fee though, they are not. i was thinking to visit antique market in Arezzo, so i did extra stay at there. when i stay in Cortona, the medieval market and fair had happened on weekend. so i could enjoyed nice evening until sunset time.
