Friwen Mangrove Eco Lodge

Friwen Mangrove Eco Lodge was a truly amazing experience that we will never forget. We stayed for one week and honestly wished we could have stayed much longer. It’s a fantastic place to discover the incredible underwater life and the stunning corals of Raja Ampat. The lodge is located right in front of Friwen Wall, and the house reef is absolutely amazing, where you can snorkel for hours. The service was amazing everyone was very kind, attentive, and helpful. Rachid, the Dutch owner, is a very nice and welcoming person who knows the area extremely well. He organizes great excursions, is always helpful, and makes sure everything runs smoothly. The food was excellent , honestly one of the best, if not the best, we had in Raja Ampat. There are only a few bungalows, so every evening we had dinner together with the other guests, and the owner which created a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Breakfast was served in the bungalow on the terrace, and it was such a lovely way to start the day. Many diving centers are nearby, and they can easily pick you up from the jetty every morning, which is very convenient. The internet worked perfectly, and having 24-hour electricity is a true gem in Raja Ampat. Having a fan in the room was also great which added to the overall comfort of the stay. We can only highly recommend this beautiful and wonderful place and truly hope to come back again one day. And we wish Rachid good luck with building new bungalows, restaurant and a dive center!

It would be nice to have some beach towels to use after swimming in the saltwater.

We had an incredible stay at this property and cannot recommend it highly enough. Located right next to the Friwen Wall, the location is unbeatable. The house reef is exceptional - vibrant and teeming with marine life - making for some of the best snorkeling we’ve ever experienced right at our doorstep. The Atmosphere and Hospitality The owners, Rashid and Eka, are wonderful hosts who create a warm, community-focused environment. We really enjoyed the social aspect of the property, making several friends over shared meals and excursions. As vegetarians, we were initially concerned about the remote location, but the culinary team exceeded all expectations. Every meal was a delicious three-course experience, which felt like a true luxury given the setting. Excursions and Expertise The highlights of our trip were the excursions led by Rashid. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the marine life in the area, and his frank, honest advice ensured we made the most of our time. The logistics were flawless: • Supportive Staff: The boat crew was always ready to assist with equipment and had hot tea and coffee waiting for us after every dip. • Safety and Care: As we aren't experienced swimmers, we appreciated the life jackets and Rashid’s thoughtful planning. He modified our routes to ensure we always swam with the current, making the experience stress-free and enjoyable. Facilities The rooms are well-maintained with direct access to the water. Notably, this is one of the few places in Raja Ampat that provides 24/7 electricity and reliable Starlink internet, which made a huge difference in our comfort. A sincere thank you to Rashid, Eka, and the team for such a memorable stay. We are already looking forward to returning in the future. Bungalow: Was für ein wundervoller Ort! Vom komfortablen Bungalow aus kann man direkt ins Meer und von der Terrasse aus die Fische beobachten. Das Bungalow hat ein super bequemes Bett und ist sehr grosszügig ausgestattet. Die Terrasse ist riesig und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Personal: Alle angestellten sind super freundlich und sehr aufgestellt. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen und super betreut gefühlt. Auch der Inhaber gibt sich sehr Mühe, dass man sich als Gast wohlfühlt. Essen: Das Mittag- und Abendessen ist abwechslungsreich und immer sehr lecker. Es ist nicht im Preis enthalten, wird aber zu einem vernünftigen Preis angeboten. Frühstück (man kann aus diversen Optionen wählen) und Mittagessen werden direkt auf der Terrasse serviert, was unbeschreiblich toll ist bei diesem fantastischen Ausblick. Das Abendessen wir meist im Restaurant serviert und ab un zu gibt es auch ein Karaoke zur Unterhalt

I bungalow superbi con una vista eccezionale, la possibilità di entrare in acqua direttamente dalla stanza e la varietà dei coralli proprio davanti. Il cibo vario e molto buono... a volte anche troppo abbondante. Molto interessante anche il vicino villaggio e le spiagge. Dimenticavo, fantastica la colazione servita in terrazza del bungalow con la possibilità di scegliere cosa mangiare e orario!

The opportunity to go snorkeling, on the house reef, as soon as you wake up is incredible. The staff are so friendly, the meals were great and overall our stay was amazing.

Everything about this place is truly magical. The bungalow facilities are beautiful and very comfortable. I especially loved doing my early-morning Pilates on the yoga mat provided. The host and manager were outstanding, and the service was excellent throughout my stay. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated the delicious food options prepared for me. The transport was also very well organized and enjoyable.
