"Exceptional"

Lovely property made me feel at home will be staying again in the future

The only downside with this property not enough kitchen equipment to cook with and the oven didn’t work but the hob did but apart from that it was a lovely little place to stay at

"DO NOT BOOK !!"

The description states on-site parking - it is non existent . It is street parking and there is no space whatsoever - after nearly an hour trying to find somewhere we admitted defeat. The owner was called and they advised a refund would be from Booking.com . The owner was advised due to mobility issues we could not stay . The young man who answered was clearly not interested that we had travelled for over 3 hours nor that it was on the 80th Anniversary to see where my father had set off from on D-day, so was especially important to me . We spent sometime trying to locate a place to stay but all was booked in Portsmouth . Booking.com have been very helpful and advised the owner to refund/compensate us but, in my opinion, the owners are clearly ignoring this and just wish to keep our hard earned money. One day they will be pensioners and I only hope they are not treated the same way. I wish there had been the 2 previous reviews on the site when I booked , as I most certainly would not have done so. Do not stay here is the only advice I can give. In response to your comments : When we booked this property you stated there was parking - not on street parking. We paid £205 for 2 nights for 2 people - at the time of booking there were other places cheaper . We toured the vicinity of the house for over 50 minutes and there was no parking at all. I am not sure what you call "local" but when all streets in the area are full we will have to disagree. Definitely no parking 20-30 meters away . We sat outside for sometime trying to find a room for the night you did not approach us. When I spoke to you you advised we would have to contact Booking.com for a refund - which appears incorrect as you are the person to refund the money. Ordinarily the mobility issue would not be a problem when booking a rental with "parking " if it had said "on street parking" it would have not been booked by us. Very misleading on your part.

"Horror Story"

Leaving 1 hour after arriving

It was not clean,double bed looked like someone had slept in it.dirty towel in washing machine,used exfoliating cloth in a draw,walls still needed painting finishing,no proper fridge but a wine cooler cabinet, dirt and hairball on lounge floor,rubbish in garden, large paint tin in downstairs cupboard,no bins at all in the property.when contacting owners wouldn't accept anything was wrong,they said cleaners went in earlier in the day.Definately not child or pet friendly in the condition we found it

"Hell on Earth"

Not fit for human habitation, photos available on request. Half painted, shelves half assembled, smoke alarm sitting on shelf, toilet not cleaned, bedding on floor upon arrival, dirty dishes, sticky surfaces, reported issues, no one came to sort it out

"Do not rent this property. It is badly misrepresented as newly renovated, is filthy and disgusting."

Nothing...we could not remain in this property

Pretty much everything. By describing it as newly renovated is completely misrepresenting the state of the house. The lounge is still being completed and what work has been done is clearly been done as cheaply as possible. The bathroom is new and some very sub standard work had been done in the kitchen which had an old bar fridge which had not been turned on prior to our arrival, and for good reason. When turned on, it sounds like you're on the flight path to Heathrow, it was very, very loud. The plug points in the lounge look very old and do not appear safe. The place is absolutely filthy with dust and dirt everywhere. Rubbish had been thrown out into the courtyard. Despite it appearing to have new covers on the single beds, we weren't at all confident the duvet cover on the big bed had been washed as it didn't smell clean, and given there is no top sheet we would've been extremely reluctant to sleep in that bed had we stayed. The towels MAY have been washed, but they were also badly stained. There were no guest instructions for appliances inside including the wifi code, you're left to work it out for yourself. We have stayed in many apartments and various types of accommodation with varying degrees of quality over the years, and have spent the last two months in Europe and the UK. While some of them can be pretty rough, this was the worse we have ever seen and the first we have ever had to leave without staying. The owner refused to reimburse us, even partially despite booking.com requesting she compensate us. We have pictures to show how disgusting it is. There was a For Sale sign on the property and we can only assume the owner is desperate to recoup some money while waiting for a sale and therefore not interested in having a clean and inviting place for people to stay. If you don't care about cleanliness and people misrepresenting what you're paying for...take a punt. If you do care...
