"Incredibly relaxing, with space to enjoy sunshine and shade!"

10.0

We liked the traditional style and especially the small splash pool, to cool off in. The location at the heart of Lamu town was really special.

"Wonderful stay in unique hotel"

10.0

We loved this property! It was such a fun stay and different than all our other hotels on our trip. Totally recommend the 3rd floor room because it has its own balcony. The breezes in the morning out there were incredible. Jamhuri was a great host and helped us book a walking tour and sunset dhow. Will be back!

Enjoyed my stay. Lovely Staff Jamhuri who helped us check in smoothly. Changed our towels. The decor and architecture is stunning. Would come again.

The pool could have been cleaner. Couldn’t swim because the pool was dirty. Tried to plunge in but it was full of chlorine.

"A very nice place. If I should ever go back to Lamu I will definately stay here again."

9.0

If you're considering going to the old town of Lamu, this is the place to stay for sure! It has so many "extras", not just the room you book. The house has a lot of different seating areas, and we spent a lot of time at the rooftop terrace just listeing to the sounds of the town and feeling the breeze from the ocean. Since they only rent out 3 rooms, it feels very private, and the host Jamhuri is just the most friendly host who will to anything to make you feel at home (even showed us where to watch the Euros football matches). Hassan Hassan who picked us up at the airport, is also extremely friendly and helped us with a lot of things (like sending money, finding a tailor etc). Through the house, we also arranged for a very nice dhow trip with captain Marocco that is very much recommended (includes superb food!) We were once told that it is better to live in Shela and take daytrips to the old town, but I do not agree. It was great to actually feel the vibe of the old town by staying there and not just visiting. Even walking around at night felt safe, and everyone you meet is extremely friendly.

This being the old town with 22 mosques, it will naturally be a lot of noise, especially in the early morning. It is some sort of school nearby with a lot of noise throughout the day, but this must be the case for the whole of the old town, not this place in particular. Just bring some earplugs and you'll be fine.

"Beautiful retreat within the old city"

Beautiful well appointed home in the heart of Lamu. The bed was comfortable with fans and mosquito nets. The kitchen was well equipped with pots/pans and appliances.

Liked it all
