Spice Forest Plantation Homestay, Thekkady

I liked the view and the staff plus yummy food.

Rooms were a little warned down.

Property is very good and its staff.But the cleanliness of the toilet should be bit high .

Absolutely stunning location within the spice forest. Room was very comfortable and staff were wonderful. Very attentive and kind. I would definitely recommend if you want peace and quiet and to be nestled within the stunning forest location

The only thing was the sound proofing of the rooms. You could hear your neighbours. However the staff , wonderful Ganesh addressed the issue immediately , and moved the people next door to another room

Mani provided great service, helped us out to get tuktuk transport to the national park. Provided a good breakfast and also helped us out of a jam when our taxi booked to Alleppey didn't turn up.

The shower pressure and heat was dodgy. At points, you had to hold the button in to keep it on shower as it spurted out, it would then go cold pretty quick.

Mani and his team looked after us really well, they dealt with all our requests, even if there was a bit of a communication problem. Mani even took us on a tour of the cardamom plantation adjacent to the homestay. Spice Forest is a lovely place with rooms overlooking valley to the jungle. A large veranda gave a great view of the jungle, although it was partly restricted by trees in front of some rooms. NB the first room has best view. There is a watch tower adjacent to the rooms, with comfortable chairs and tables, was the perfect place to watch for birds. The dawn chorus was spectacular, although as always the jungle birds were difficult to spot. Our room was clean, and the bed extremely comfortable. There was even a kettle and cupboard -luxuries that many homestays do not provide. The shower was somewhat temperamental; hot water was sometimes not available, or ceased after a short time. The food was very good. Breakfast was different every day and delicious, lunch was available on request. Dinner was typical Kerala fare - tasty and wholesome.

The 2.5 km road from the main road was challenging in short sections, but perfectly ok if you go carefully. This was a great place for peace and quiet, but unfortunately there was nowhere to walk, apart from the entrance road.

We had a wonderful stay at Spice Forest. Mani is an excellent cook, incredibly attentive, and took the time to show us around the plantation, which made the experience even more special. Highly recommended!

The shower was not always working (hot water, not a lot of water). The road to the homestay was difficult. We were driving a mini bus and that was not easy.
