"Lovely stay and very welcoming by the owner who lives next door."

Lovely cosy and warm cottage

The stairs but that was also part of the quirkiness of the place too being the original staircase. We navigated it well but if there was some less able or older people in could be a problem.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, the place is really great, the place creates a wonderful atmosphere, we felt like we were in the 16th or 17th century because the house makes such an impression. It's a perfect place for exploring the area and walking the dog. The owner is a nice guy, helpful and explained everything where and what to see. I recommend this place and wish others a nice stay as well... Adam

"The property is really well looked after and is in a position to easily access the local pub and surrounding areas"

Really lovely, clean and nicely decorated . Owner lives next door and was very friendly .

Position near road , very noisy, not enough safe, outside space for dogs. And windows were painted shut so unable to open .

"A comfortable, charming and cosy stay."

10.0

The location was great for visiting Chatsworth. Charlie our host was very friendly and willing to help. There was a well equipped kitchen and the cottage was in walking distance of a lovely pub with great food.

The busy road near the cottage.

"Excellent location, beautiful cottage"

10.0

We stayed at Well Farm Cottage as we were attending a wedding at Stretton Manor Barn. The cottage is superb - very comfortable, clean & has everything you could want/ need. There are some beautiful walks with amazing views straight from the cottage and a lovely pub across the road, serving great food. The host was excellent - very helpful and kind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone either visiting the area (Matlock/ Chatsworth close by), or going to a wedding at Stretton Manor Barn. We would love to stay again and spend more time walking with our dogs. Thank you!

"We didn’t stay in the end. We had to find alternative accommodation due to it not being adequate for our needs"

3.0

Looked good on paper

Exaggerated photos and didn’t have private outdoor space which I would say is essential when taking children and dogs with you. Stairs very steep and small treads which make it quite tricky when carrying and baby or toddler up and down them.

"Quaint cottage not for pets or mobility issues"

6.0

Beautiful cottage, well presented and opposite a fabulous pub, the Greyhound, who were very helpful and friendly. Perfect for young couples with no pets, children or mobility issues.

The original instructions received via booking.com with a map location did not direct us correctly and we had to call the Host and Stay phone number listed to get more precise instructions. For a so called 'dog friendly cottage' we were put off when first stepping into the cottage to see a sign limiting the dog to downstairs. We have a non allergenic SEN dog and highly allergic family members. It was obvious that pets had previously been upstairs and not cleaned well as we struggled with our allergies. Lesson learned for booking a dog friendly cottage on our side. Due to the cottage being on the main A61 road to Chesterfield the traffic noise was horrific, especially at night, and I had to sleep downstairs on the sofa with the dog in his bed. We were disappointed 😞 by our stay as we were looking forward to staying in a quaint old cottage like we used to own. For the location it needs better sound insulation/secondary glazing. Take earplugs! Not recommended for pet owners or anyone slightly immobile. On one recommendation to the cottage owner - we have stayed in cottages/rentals all around the world - adding that extra bit like handsoap in the bathroom, a set of extra bedding in case its needed, and better communication, could make a huge difference. Be honest about pet rules in terms and conditions/information when booking, as well as mention the narrow stairs and high sided bath/shower..
