"Spacious and comfortable - best place we stayed"

Spacious home-from-home with good kitchen and laundry facilities. Liked having basics available like salt and pepper, oil, balsamic, washing powder, dishwasher tablets etc. Also stocked with wood for a real fire and games. Short walk to the lake front.

"We enjoyed our stay overall."

The house is generously equipped. It has a great outdoor seating area and a lovely garden. We spent a lot of time on the deck. It's quiet and the beds are very comfortable.

The finish is patchy with missing cupboard doors, no kickboards in the kitchen and the stove is sitting on bricks. The dryer is still broken, despite several reviews mentioning it. There are pipes and wires on the wall where an AC unit has been removed. The house has quite a strong, unknown smell and limited air flow.

"Comfy stay with a rustic feel."

Comfy beds, good space to settle for a few nights and access to prepare own meals

No air con and it was a warm during our stay however the hosts had fans for us to use and could catch lovely evening breeze

"Recommended if you don't mind the DYI vibe"

With a shipping container in the front yard and uncut grass the first impression is not impressive. Inside you'll find a well equiped and spacious property fit for any lenght of stay. Enough food in the kitchen to outlast a nuclear winter. Good location about 7 minutes drive from town. Taupo itself has dozens of resturants and free parking. Good information supplied by the hosts. Plenty of storage. Good water pressure. Onsuite to main bedroom. Good main bathroom.

I like it lot but there are some odd touches. It looks like someone was aiming for the look of a hunting lodge (hides, antlers but no mounted heads) but halfway through decided to give up. There are incomplete bits everwhere. While there are plenty of heaters and fans a top stay woud have air conditioning. No decafe coffee. We always ask but seldom is it supplied. Seems to be a constant problem in New Zealand. There is a couple of steps up to the entrance.
