The Shepherds Hut

It is super cosy and a perfect weekend gate-away. So romantic and whimsical. Has everything you might need for a lovely stay. We loved a fireplace inside and fire bowl outside for the evenings.

Just a minor but it is next to the trains… it didn’t disturb us too much, just shocked at first as we didn’t expect that noise.

Beautifully presented shepherds hut, perfect for a little weekend getaway. In a great location with plenty to do/see in the local area. The hosts were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend and we will be back again.

Lovely little hut, beautifully clean, lovely location and wonderful owners.

The property is small (it’s a shepherds hut! You can’t expect space) but it’s super cosy, the bed is firm and nice. The farm is lovely and the hosts are very friendly. We stayed over new years for 4 nights, temps outside were cold, including some snow but inside the heating worked perfectly, we didn’t need to light the woodburner but wood was provided if we did. The shower was lovely and hot, and powerful. Towels provided if needed. The cooking facilities, toaster, kettle, a small airfryer (which was really good actually!) and an induction hob, unfortunately only one ring worked for us the other was undetectable, but we managed to cook a three course meal, including a roast (it was a challenge but a fun one) everything we needed was available or we could make do. Fridge is a good size. The area is lovely, walked into the village, took about 35 mins, pub half way that was very friendly. Great Indian meal for New Year’s Eve in the village also. We honestly could have stayed longer, there is so much around, you need to drive or enjoy a walk, but I would highly recommend, even in the winter as a bunker up in a couple and enjoy your surroundings. Huge Tesco not far or local shops in the village.

Absolutely nothing! My only comment would be a dustpan a brush would be amazing, we were concerned after our walks of bring mud in and not being able to clean up properly. Also perhaps a note in a welcome pack of how to deal with rubbish in the hut as we felt so bad leaving our rubbish to realise it’s round the back (our apologies!!) but I am struggling to find anything we didn’t like with this property.
