Bright Sun Safari

This property is perfect. The staff are all so lovely, and the room was so comfortable. The bed and pillows were great. Their dinner was delicious. Really recommend staying here.

Amazing place close to the city. The room has everything we need including a hot shower. We got to see mongoose in the garden. Also other fascinating animals like birds and squirrels. The dinner was absolutely tasty we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The owners organized us a safari tour. It was a beautiful experience we saw many elephants we really enjoyed it. Our stay at the Bright Sun Hotel was fantastic. Recommended to all.

First of all Upul and his sister Lakmali are the best hosts we met so far during our vacation. The room was also good with a super comfy bed, AC and hot water. They also made us rice and curry for dinner which was delicious. Upul also arranged a half-day safari tour and we had a great experience at the national park. The tour guide is also a knowledgeable and experienced guy. We saw many elephants, birds, buffaloes, deer etc. Then the next day we had a nice and delicious breakfast. We were full until evening. Recommend this amazing place with amazing and genuine people. Thank you Upul and Lakmali for everything. We will be back next time.

Super friendly hosts, cozy room with a super comfortable bed. The safari tour they arranged for us was a great experience we enjoyed it. We also visited the elephant transit home after the safari tour, which was also a nice experience for us. Dinner was extremely delicious and had a delicious breakfast the next day. It's like they have created a tiny little jungle. It was a calm place to relax even though it was close to the city area. Everything was great, recommend it to all!

Upul is a very nice and helpful host. He messaged us already prior to our stay and also arranged the safari for us with an experienced guide. We loved our stay at Sunbirds Home and felt very comfortable. The value for money is excellent! The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The A/C worked perfectly and we appreciated having a mosquito net. The bathroom and room were both very clean. The safari Upul arranged for us was very great too! We started very early in the morning and got a breakfast basket with plenty of food, snacks and drinks with us. The breakfast we got the next day was very good too! Thank you for a great stay, Upul! We definitely come back when being in Udawalawe again 😊

Beautiful and clean property. Felt like home. The family welcomed me into their home and treated me so kindly. Truly one of the nicest places I stayed in Sri Lanka, wish I booked more nights.

By far Best hostel I have been to in Sri Lanka so far!!! You shouldnt think twice in staying here. 10 stars are not enoough. The rooms were amazing. Really confortable beds with many pillows, the AC worked perfectly and was silent so we had an amazing sleep. The bathrooms were perfect, and had a really good shower with nice pressure and HOT WATER for looong time! (That is not very common in Sri Lanka) The cabins are in a very good location, near the national park and as soon as we arrived we felt like we were in the jungle already. They are surrounded by nature so we could hear the birds chirping, it was magical But the best part of all was the owner Upul. He was so sweet and took great care of us since we booked. He contacted me through whatsapp right away, and helped us book a tuktuk from weligama, arranged an amazing safari for us with an experienced guide (we saw looots of elephants, wildlife, birds....) and kindly helped us with everything even until we arrived to our next destination. When we arrived Upul ereceived us with a drink, and he even prepared a basket with snacks for our safari. When we arrived back from the safari he had breakfast ready for us. It was delicious, abundant and varied ¡we couldnt finish it all! I think this hostel is worth 3 times the price

The hosts are the most caring people we have met in Sri lanka. you can clearly tell hosting is what they love to do. We spent a week and they treated us like royalty which we are certainly not expecting. The rooms are tucked back on the property making it very serene and peaceful. We loved the table and chairs which allowed us to work for the week. The wifi is very fast for Sri Lanka and we never ran into capping issues. The breakfast was SO MUCH FOOD we couldn't eat it all. He even gave us snacks and water to bring on safari with us which made all our other safari people jealous. Do not hesitate to book here!

We are extremely sensitive to mold and were not able to use the AC provided but its okay, we're used to the Asia heat.

We loved our stay at Sunbird's, would 200% recommend it! The family is very welcoming and kindhearted. They've arranged a superb safari at Udawalawe with Subhash. The place itself is peaceful, green, super clean and spacious. The breakfast makes you fill up till dinner;). There are only two cottages so be quick to book!
