We had a very enjoyable and peaceful two-day stay at Home Villa before leaving for our safari. The villa is in the middle of a village, which makes it very quiet and relaxing, though it is quite far from the city. Our room was comfortable. The washroom had a unique stone floor and jungle feel, which was a new experience that we really liked. Hillary, the owner, was extremely helpful and made our stay easy. He helped us book a ride for the city tour, and when the driver didn't show up, he was kind enough to drive us himself. He quickly fixed any small problem we had. His advice for our Maasai market visit was very useful, and it was really nice to have detailed conversations with him about multiple topics, especially local culture, politics, and his experience with safari travels. Hillary’s staff, Sophia and Irene, were very nice and welcoming. They are learning English well, but there is a slight language barrier. Sophia cooked really good food and took care of everything we requested. It's important to mention that Hillary went out of his way to arrange halal chicken for us, showing he respected our dietary preferences. It was nice to have a local mosque nearby; I enjoyed walking there for the evening prayers and meeting the local children. Just remember to carry a flashlight after dark, as there are no street lights. We can’t finish this review without mentioning Topu, the resident kitten. We loved spending time with her, and we genuinely missed her after we left—my partner and I still talk about her! Overall, this stay felt very much like being at home. We wish Hillary all the best for his future.

Location is a bit far, and you'd need to get in touch with Hillary to find your way. Don't trust the google maps when you're close to the property.

Wir hatten die Möglichkeit das lokale Alltagsleben mitzuerleben. Die Anfahrt ist etwas schwierig für Europäer, dafür sind wir herzlich und gastfreundlich empfangen worden.

Home Villa ist eine wirklich tolle Oase im Außenbezirk von Arusha. Es ist super authentisch, freundlich und schlicht schön. Man kann dort mit den locals Kontakt aufnehmen und sich vom tansanischen Flair berieseln lassen. Das Frühstück ist ausgezeichnet und wenn man mittags oder abends was essen gehen will einfach nachfragen und man wird in schlichte einheimische Restaurant ausgeführt mit super leckeren Essen!
