Blue Maalu Resort

We have travelled much of Sri Lanka and many parts of Asia and we would have to say that this is the first property we have stayed at that is true to its photos on Booking.com Everything was as promoted and better, staff, room, comfort etc and Waranga even came to meet us at the bus station at night.

Nothing, everything was awesome.

Amazing house next to a beach in a untouristy area:) the stay was one of my highlights during my one month sri lanka trip! The rooms are comfortable and you can enjoy a great breakfast looking at the ocean. I also loved the activities (boat safari, scooter rental, temples, waterfall, local dinner) i did around the area with the great help of waranga. Thanks again for the amazing time:)

Very kind host. A nice garden with palms, cats. Direct access to the ocean.

A bit noisy due to nearby railway, but that’s very common.

Directly at the beach, in a calm not touristy area. The room is amazing and you can even see the ocean from the bathroom. Hosts provide a super delicious breakfast and even took us on a boat safari where you could see many birds.

Nothing but maybe important about the beach: Sometimes the waves were too high/current too strong to go in the water completely.

Everything, could not fault it. Great location, perfect room, excellent breakfast, and Waranga is a great host. Would have loved to have stayed longer but it was fully booked.

Beautiful room with comfortable bed and sea view. The host even brought us to the city ventre and showed us a temple. Breakfast is great. 100% recommend.

The accommodation is right in front of a local beach that you can enjoy basically all to yourself. The accommodation itself is a very nice and cozy homestay, newly renovated rooms with a large shared balcony (two rooms) You have a long (1.5-2km) beach just 500m from the accommodation, this beach too almost completely empty. Did daily beach walks here. The people who run the accommodation are super super nice, today I call them my friends. They take care of you and recommend places you can/should visit. If you want to be alone, you can be very undisturbed, if you want to be social, they are very social and hospitable! Sometimes lunch or dinner is served at the accommodation, I accepted every time it was offered, best food I ate in Ambalangoda! Also take the opportunity to let Anjala (neighbor) sew clothes for you. Cool to get stylish local garments that are also super comfortable and adapted to the climate. Stayed 4 weeks here, had planned to travel around Sri Lanka a bit but enjoyed myself so much stayed at Blue Maalu for the whole stay. Could easily have stayed another 4 weeks, can't wait to visit the same place again!!!!
