"Nice stay almost in the centre of Funchal"

This little flat was the downstairs apartment of a small, renovated house within a local residential area at the end of a small alley close to Funchal centre. The area itself was very quiet, but you need to be prepared for uphill walking from the centre. There's also bus no 32 that comes by, if you don't want to struggle with the hill. This apartment is well-equipped and very clean. It has a very small balcony above the house entrance, with a table and two chairs, where we had our morning coffees. The bigger rooftop balcony is for the upstairs apartment. The communication with the owner went smoothly, we were allowed to bring in the luggage before check-in. As a welcome gift we were given a bottle of wine!

Being elderly, we struggled with the hill but Funchal is very hilly anyway. Both taxi drivers were unsure of the exact location but Pedro our host managed to advise, talking directly to the first taxi driver who dropped us off.
