Pill Hill Mansion

I loved the entire mansion with the spacious rooms and order patio.

I disliked being injured on the first night of the stay at the mansion.

It’s spacious, furnished mansion, and tvs everywhere to enjoy the games that on, bears finally won a game finally. Outside sitting area to enjoy a breeze while watching the game.

The best thing about Pill Hill Mansion is the price. I stayed in the co-ed room, and the rate for three nights was unbeatable for the Chicago location. The host was friendly and helpful, and the house has a large yard that’s nice for relaxing or casual activities.

However, the main issue is cleanliness: the showers, toilets, and especially the kitchen need a thorough cleaning. Don’t expect comfortable sleeping conditions. Because it’s so inexpensive, there are many international travelers, and some were awake late at night making noise, including phone calls. People come and go at all hours. A sleep mask and earplugs are essential if you need proper rest.

I rarely ever leave reviews, but I feel a responsibility to warn other women. I’ve travelled solo many times all over the world, but I have never felt as unsafe or unsettled as I did here. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt wrong .. dark, unclean / filthy and unwelcoming. The house smelled old and stale, with cardboard covering the windows, no real security, thick layer of dust/dirt everywhere, left to sit on a dirty bed sheet from previous person with no duvet or pillow case. Someone outside the bedroom window on their phone whilst looking into the room. I noticed immediately that I would not be able to sleep safely there, so I left within 15–20 minutes of arriving. Apparently more people were coming to stay, but I wasn’t chancing seeing if this was a scene from Jeffrey Dahmer or everyone was arriving after 7pm - I picked up my bags and ran! After checking reviews later, I realised I wasn’t alone ….many women have said the same: unsafe location, unsettling people hanging around the property, drug activity on the nearby bus route, filthy rooms, and a general feeling of danger. I wish I’d seen these earlier!! This isn’t about comfort or preference, it’s about basic safety. As a woman travelling alone, I genuinely felt vulnerable and fearful. No one should have to experience that, especially after paying in full for accommodation that looks nothing like the photos online. I strongly urge Booking.com, TripAdvisor, and the property owners to take these reports seriously and protect future guests. And to any women reading this trust your instincts. If something feels off, don’t stay. Your safety is worth more than a cheap nights stay.

The place is only 3 minutes away from the bus stop to go downtown so it's really cool.

The place is not really clean.

It’s spacious, there’s tvs everywhere.

Leaving

The whole house was freezing that night ,no heat, All men no women were there. SHOULD HAVE LEFT BUT I PAID MY MONEY, NO REFUND. House needs work inside very old.

I don't ask for much, a house with eating/lounging space, Southside's better quiet neighborhood with all night pub.transit to attractions. Good house for groceries lite cooking.

Party's past 2:00 a.m. can be okay, plates left greasy + farting all around the kitchen nightly something wakes me.... It's a bit worth a complaint.
