Charming, warm and friendly.

The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. They were all engaging and made us both feel really welcome. The menu was varied and our choices were delicious, I heartily recommend the chowder starter, breakfast was plentiful with good coffee, continental and hot food choices. Our room was warm and comfortable, we had a great birthday celebration. Thank you.

Food was great and staff excellent. The cask ales were also excellent

No hanging space in room so could be a problem depending on length of stay.

We booked here because we’d had a lovely meal earlier in the year. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food is exceptional and the hosts are very welcoming. We’ll definitely be returning

The room was fantastic, everything you could need was provided, we visited the pub in the evening for a meal and this was exceptional, we didn't think they could possibly beat it until we turned up for breakfast absolutely amazing!!

I stay in a lot of rooms in hotels and guest houses on Booking.com and staying at the Cartwheel has been one of my highlights of the year. When you work away from home a lot as I do, its the attention to detail that makes a great stay stand out from just an ok one. So many larger hotels simply don't care about the small elements such as decent coffee, decent biscuits and care kits in the bathrooms. The Cartwheel does this really well and its really appreciated. On top of the that, the staff were cheerful, interested in their guests and very helpful. I missed out on the evening meal as I was visiting someone in the area but walking through the bar on arrival I could see the high quality of the food! The breakfast I did have, and it was really nicely cooked with lovely ingredients. So yes, all in all, I would thoroughly recommend the Cartwheel.
