Mansa Musso Lodge

The location is fabulous! If you seek some peace and quiet, this is the place to go. The cabin is quite big and has everything you will need. Every morning there was breakfast served to our terrace, which was something to look forward to every day. The ocean is just a 2 minute walk and you hear the waves from the cabin. My partner and I found that the ocean was some of the best swims we ever had in an ocean. Clear water, not too many waves, no scary fish or anything. We ate almost everyday at the restaurant 'Black and White' a few minutes to the right on the beach. The other restaurants in the area are a bit further away. We didnt mind at all the minimal choices. Black and White serves fresh food and has the best service. There were only a few other tourists in the area, which we loved. The people working at Mansa Musso were too kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed getting to know them. Thank you for everything!

Maybe there could be a doorbell downstairs before people come up the stairs to the terrace for when the people working here want to ask something or e.g. to come with the breakfast. Sometimes we didnt see them coming and had a little jump scare. Same goes for the shower under the cabin. There is a curtain made of beads, but its quite easy to look through. That made us feel a bit exposed, since the other guest and the staff need to walk past that shower ghehe. Other than that, it was perfectttt.

I enjoyed here one of the best experiences during my trip through the Gambia. It was exactly what I wanted for my last days, a place where you can enjoy the quiet environment, just the sound of birds around you. Malick, the host, took great care of me, he was always around and available, bringing me fruits and nuts while I was reading by the terrace. I was very lucky to share a unique experience with them, as it was Sona's birthday and we had lunch together with Emilie as well, thank you so much for that, and for letting me stay in the room until late in the afternoon, as my flight was leaving very late in the evening. If I ever manage to visit this country again I will for sure visit this lodge again.

I loved everything about it, but please take into account that this lodge is in an area where there isn't much around, there are some restaurants walking distance by the beach. They have in mind and are already working on a kitchen to be able to offer lunch and dinner.

The treehouse itself is beautiful!! Inside & out. Tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable bed, fridge & some utensils, kettle, cafetiere, tea etc. Stunning panoramic views of the ocean & surrounding gardens all from the comfort of your own private terrace. The people, well what can I say? Amazing, genuine, polite & so helpful!! Malick & his wonderful team, Sona, Noah & Babuka are on hand every hour of the day & night, bringing you food, drinks, cigarettes & fresh dates from the market. They went above & beyond. Malick is very special, a talented carpenter (he built the treehouse) & so professional in every way. Euro, the night security guard was very serious about our safety & made sure we were safe & sound through the night. Have to give a special mention to Markus, who is residing at the lodge. He helped us with anything & everything. His travel stories kept us entertained & amazed. Very inspiring!! Also need to mention Michael. He picked us up from the airport, told us a lot of information & also organised a wonderful day trip to the Makasutu Cultural Forest. We fell asleep every night listening to the incredible sounds of the ocean & woke every morning to the sounds of beautiful bird song. Truly paradise! The perfect holiday retreat for peace, relaxation & restoration. A few metres away from a stunning sandy beach, very swimable sea with only gentle waves. The beach itself is almost private, just a few local kids having fun in the water & cheekily asking for photographs. All locals are very friendly, even though life is hard for them. They appreciate any level of support, even if it is just a few bananas or a bracelet. I have to mention our neighbours at Black & White Beach Bar. Food is amazing, people are incredible. Mama & her team, special shout out to Lammey & Petra for making our stay so easy & relaxing. The next beach bar is Happy Corner.

Nothing to write here!! It's perfect, I wouldn't change a thing! We booked 7 nights & stayed for 14!!!
