We had a lovely stay at Amaraai Lake Edge. The place was comfortable, clean, and family friendly. Also, the breakfast was really good. The hosts (Raniska) and his family made us feeling always welcome. He gave us good recommendations for plans and restaurants around Nuwara Eliya. He and his family were really helpful and attentive with us.

The living room with big windows over the green fields is really nice. The host and his family is nice, knows a lot about history of Sri Lanka, we had interesting conversations. The breakfast is nice too, cooked by his wife and mum.

The weather was very bad - rainy, windy and cold. This in itself is not a problem, and obviously out of the host's control. But it becomes a problem when water starts to drop in the living room, the carpets and tables become wet. Roof is very thin and not waterproof, which makes it very noisy when raining during the night - hence it is hard to fall asleep. Bathroom turns into a swimming pool after the first shower. Then, lots of hair from previous customer surface. The mattress of the big bed is not comfortable, feeling the springs in the back. What bothers me the most, is that I've read all reviews and the problems I mentioned above were already mentioned by other customers few years back, but nothing has been done. Then I mention all these directly to him, but no discount is offered. Even worse, I need to pay extra 3% for credit card payment.

Excellent location Great room and decor We went on a tour with our host to waterfalls, tea plantation and white water rafting which was superb and very reasonably priced

Lovely place and the host was so incredibly helpful. Offered us lifts into / from town and train station, and helped me book a safari tour. The room was lovely and spacious and had all you needed. We had tea and cake on arrival, and had so much food for breakfast.

There was difficulty in finding the property as there was no sign outside. The family and host were very accommodating and informative. The room was spacious and comfortable with warm blankets. The breakfast was very good.

Best shower we’ve had in Sri Lanka, the garden is lovely and the owner is super helpful!!

It was very over priced You arrive on a dirt road Common area in Front of the room with very loud guests making it impossible to sleep. No front desk More like a house with rooms than hotel vibe

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel completely at home and helped us with our plans in the area and onward travel. The room had everything we needed and was perfectly clean. Great value for money.
