Guest House Koiya

Absolutely stunning. So much fun to stay somewhere so traditional. I enjoyed sitting and eating my breakfast in the seating area with the garden view. There are various books to read and cabinets filled with curiosities. There is also a guest book which I had fun looking through. You can also make origamis with provided paper. We arrived so late but I could not help but stay up late to absorb the atmosphere of the place. Even though we checked in when the front desk was closed, the staff were so kind to add an envlope on the door to welcome me. I am so happy to have stayed there.

the room was cozy and small, we slept on the foutons that were surprisingly comfy. the room had an AC, towels, that have been changed on the second day of our stay, a hairdryer and an outlet adapter from EU to JP. the common facilities like bathroom and toilet were not the cleaniest but nothing abnormal. the ladies at the entrance were also very pleasant and agreed to let us leave our luggage at the entrance while we were looking at the city before checking in. there was also small breakfast containing buns of different kind+butter/marmelade+fruits+joghurt included in the price.

for us as for a couple that is taller than 188cm the room and the house in general was pretty small, we hit our heads on everything possible in the house. that is obvioulsy only a heads up for the tall people :)

Das Haus hat viel Charm und die Lage in direkter Nähe zu Bushaltestellen und nicht weit von einer Metrostation ist super. Der Garten ist natürlich ein Highlight des Hauses.

Das Frühstück war okay, hätte ein bisschen besser sein können. Es ist mein persönliches Empfinden aber das Haus ist so still, dass man sich gar nicht traut, sich in den Gemeinschaftsraum zu setzen. Dabei wäre es eine gute Möglichkeit für Reisende, sich zu begegnen.

Maison tres jolie avec un magnifique jardin ! L’aspect ancien contribue au côté traditionnel et à l’experience de dormir dans un joli endroit. Le personnel est tres sympathique !

L’insonorisation est complètement inexistante. Bien que cela soit courant et compréhensible dans ce genre de maison traditionnelle, ma chambre donnait directement dans le hall d’accueil, et le personnel parlait fort des le matin. D’autres guests parlaient également fort pendant la nuit. Bien que cela ne soit pas du ressort des propriétaires, je ne pense pas que cela était mal intentionné de la part des autres guest. Il faudrait davantage indiquer que l’insonorisation est mauvaise et demander aux gens de ne pas faire de bruit. De plus, le petit-déjeuner est tres rudimentaire et il faut assembler son lit soi-même (matelas, housse, draps, etc…). Apres une longue journée de marche dans Kyoto, ce n’est pas tres agréable d’avoir à assembler son lit le soir !
