Guest House Koiya

Great place to experience a traditional Japanese house and the decor was so cute! Great value, staff was nice and kitchen was well equipped. Good location with a local feel, close to the iconic Funaoka Onsen. Highly recommended.

Because of structure of the old Japanese house, sound proof is not good, it was pretty cold in the communal space in the morning (I was there when it was very cold in February) although it was well heated in the room so wasn’t much of the problem for me.

部屋は2畳ほどのシングル。冬の中の宿泊で、空調や布団が暖かくて助かります。 ドライヤーや充電コードもあってイヤホンを充電出来て便利でした。 何より共有部分から見える中庭も雪が積もって素敵でした！ 船岡温泉で外風呂、西陣サラサのカフェ、大徳寺の大仙院の枯山水が宿から歩いて10分くらいで楽しく観光できました！

靴箱あたりがごちゃっとしていたので大丈夫かなーと少し不安でした。そのくらいです。

It really is a traditional house in preserved antique state. Enormous beautiful garden. Useful kitchen. Excellent staff. 13 minute walk from subway. A senko and onsen nearby. Also large grocery store within walking distance. There are about 7 different rooms each with guests staying but everyone was very good at being quiet. The bikes were perfect for getting around.

I did wish the kitchen had more pots and pans, and good cutlery. Supplying some very basic condiments would also help.
