I decided to do a quick trip to the mountains and thought it would be fun to check out the Dillard House. We went as a family to eat at the Dillard House often growing up. Their meals, served family style, offer delicious choices and it brought back a lot of great memories. I knew the property had recently been sold and was undergoing renovations. I was surprised to see the main restaurant facility was being completely renovated and not currently open. They did a good job of signage on the property to direct you to check in and to the restaurant currently open in their conference center. The food was still great, the staff was friendly and the room I stayed in was very clean, well furnished, albeit a bit dated but scheduled to be renovated, quiet, and very comfortable with a beautiful view of the horse pasture. I spoke with the F&B manager who said they should be back in the newly renovated restaurant by the fall and shared all the other plans for construction and redevelopment. I was also glad to hear a member of the Dillard family is still involved with the property. I will definitely go back to check it out after the renovations are completed. It's a great memory from childhood and glad to see it still being taken care of and made better for the future.
Highlands Building room large, comfortable, well appointed.
Friendly staff, beautiful location. Beds were clean and comfortable, and the grounds had a view of the pasture, horses in the mountains. We used the pool and it was very clean. Older motel… New owner will be renovating. Would definitely stay again.
Very nice
USRooms were clean. Glad to see the property being renovated. Property was in need of improvements.
Nothing.
The staff were all friendly, and this is in a safe area with some scenic surroundings. The issues far outweighed the nice features, though. Good qualities included nice folks at check-in, clean bedding and towels, nice-white comforter and comfortable mattress. The back balcony (shared balcony with full row of rooms) in the luxury valley view area has a lovely morning view - trees, elevation, a small pond and plenty of pleasant birds in the trees. Issues included dozens of insects (two types of ants, earwigs, small flies, beetles) and arachnids (three types of spiders, and centipedes) invade the bathroom at dark - some making their way down the hallway to the master suite. Add to that worn furniture (some tears and stains) poor cleaning - mopping does not get the corners, and intense smoky odor (someone likely put the fireplace on at some time and didn't use the fan - but it was challenging on the sinuses). I tried to pretend I was camping and curled up in my sleeping bag on the bed... not restful. They can fix this, and I hope they do. The property itself has so much potential, and they were nice. The fella was not surprised when I mentioned a bug issue when checking out. At almost $300 a night - AVOID (at least until they hire a real exterminator and clean).
The room was great, and the grounds were nice. I wasn't happy that the website had no mention of the dining room not being available and that the pool and hot tub were not open. The dining room with its great view were a prime reason that I booked the reservation in the first place.
USSerenity, great food, peaceful
I expect to see things when remodeling. It didn’t bother us.
Room needs updates, but the views were great and everything fire with marshmallows very nice.
USBreakfast was great!!!
