The Dillard House

The property is stunning. Completely surrounded by mountains. There are sometimes horses from the stable in the field. It is very close to Black Rock State Park.

I stayed in October 2025, and they are under major renovations. There is construction happening all over the property and makes it a little hard to get around. That being said, I am interested in what the finished product will look like.

We booked a room through hotels.com for last night Saturday, Oct 11 through this morning, Oct 12. I always had enjoyed coming to the Dillard House and eating lunch there 15-20 years ago and watch the deer come up to the window. As I understand alot has changed since then and we believed we were staying at a stellar place, which this was not. It felt like we were in a Days Inn or even worst. We stayed in the Blue Ridge rooms and they were the most outdated and we felt like we were in a time warp. When we walked in the room, my wife wanted to walk out. We paid $300 for this and if we could have gotten a refund we would. These are the things that were wrong with the room - Dead Bug on the wall. -Live Bug on the wall. The management did come in and get them. -The bathroom sink had no stopper to it and there was a toothpaste cap and something else logged in the drain. -The room was musty. -The TV did not work half of the time. -The bathroom mat in the shower was glued to the floor. -The light, fan switch, and the dimmer were very old in the bathroom along with the tile and tub and fixtures. -The chandelier in the middle of the room was from the 40s. It seemed that nothing has been updated in the room since it was built in the 60 - 70. It was a waste of money and we would like to be refunded. We will not been staying there again or recommend it to anyone. I believe we were taken advantage us for hotels.com for recommending this place.

I love the quietness of the property

All the construction at the property and all the construction in general in Dillard. The price has also increased for the season change, but the leaves are not changing yet.

Various types of bugs; fruit flies, live bumble bee, other bugs Problem with tv set up - took around 40 minutes for someone to come

Loved the room’s balcony overlooking the creek and woods. Rooms were large and very well maintained.
