FLH Bairro Alto - Chiado Spacious Flat

This apartment was gigantic and very vintage! The location was amazing, in the middle of everything in Lisbon, so we didn't have to rent out a car. We were 5 women, and we felt very safe. Our favorite was the vestibule at the entrance in the apartment with cute armchairs - very picture-worthy.

We had to first check in at the office that was located at a different address. Thankfully, we requested a driver from the same company who was kind to drop us off to check in and then drive us to our apartment. Communication was difficult as our plane was delayed, and although I sent emails to the host, the driver was not informed of the delay and had to wait for us for 2 hours, and then we had to wait for the driver. He was so sweet about it, though! Also, do not get this apartment if you prefer quiet nights! There are no ACs, so we had to keep our windows open but the streets in Lisbon city center don't sleep, so there was partying under our windows 24/7. One of the bathrooms was very tiny but it wasn't a problem for us. It was kind of the hosts to offer little packets of shower gel in the bathrooms but it was not enough between 5 people, and we didn't think to pack shower gel.

Location and value for money. The flat was also very spacious.

Both showers were very poor. None of us had a hot shower all week! You could wait 20 mins and there was still no hot water for the showers. Sink taps were ok.

The property was central and access to most tourism experiences.

The toilet facilities were suffering from poor maintenance. The windows in the bathroom could not be opened so could not air the room and so the smell of sewerage was constant. It was impossible to get away from the smell. There was only one bathroom that was usable. The decor was very dated and it looked like everything needed freshening up.

Central location. Size was spacious.

Sewer smell from the bathrooms was awful. The worse ever experience any human being can have upon entering the unit. Especially because the odor permeate the entire unit. It’s very sad this one element spoiled the entire stay. The inconsistency of the hot water…either scalding hot or freezing cold…no in between. One more thing the showers stalls are mildewed.

Problems with too hot or too cold water in the bathroom! In the last room, the jam did not close well and smelled terrible.

Location of property was excellent

The bathroom was separated into 2 side by side small rooms with 2 separate doors, which resulted in no storage for towels, clothes hanging, toiletries, etc. Hanging wet towels was non existent! Especially with a group of 6 adults. The only window was shut tight, jammed ! Could not open and the poor wash basin drainage contributed to a daily smelly experience. The smaller bathroom has a exhaust fan which was the only source of removing moisture and Odor from both rooms. Very inadequate especially when the door is closed. Yes, the apartment is large and the kitchen renovated and bright. Lots of character!! However no wine glasses! The apartment is old, worn furniture, worn sofas, worn bedding, etc. and cleanliness is suspect as it felt dirty due to poor lighting. My pillows require support as there was none. Feels like home is the managing firm responsible for maintaining quality and comfort. They provided 1 dishwasher tablet, 1 sample size kitchen towel, 1 small sponge, 1 small tube of dishwasher liquid, 6 sample size body wash packs, 2 small sample size bar soaps! At check in, the process was uninviting and cold. Just sign in and remit the tax. Unprofessional! My home never felt this bad. The only bright spot is location!!
