The simplicity

Luxurious and spacious inside with shower and toilet compartment inside the done. Bed is big and enough duvets were provided for the colder winter month. Even heating was available and black out curtains. There is a fire pit place just outside the dome and a parking area. The domes have a wall around them. Breakfast was included in the nearby Jebel Shams resort but of less quality than expected and in a big not so cost room. At breakfast, wifi was available from 7-9am. Same for dinner. The domes are just a short drive away from the starting point of the Balcony walk.

Luxurious dome with private toilet and shower inside but no sink or mirror. The four domes are very close to each other so you have to be lucky with the other guests. Opposite the domes is a mosque so you can hear the call to pray early morning without doubt. And the domes’ location is not so unique in nature but located between guesthouses and at the main road, which becomes busy once it’s light. Not that matters too much because you are at Jebal Jais probably for a hike.

The dome concept was something we were drawn to, and it did not disappoint! The room was very big and clean, and both owner and staff were very helpful and kind. The accommodation is located high up in the mountain, therefore the night sky was very nice to watch as we could see a lot of stars, something that is quite rare when you live in the city. If we were to visit Oman again, we would surely book another night!

It was not clear that breakfast and dinner were 1,5 km away in Jemel Shames Ressort. Staff was not explaining that the room was not charged automatically to the credit card and that we had to go to a different place to pay. Staff did not speak enough English to communicate

We loved it! Close to the best spots of Jebel Shams. Also the host was very helpful and super nice. He checked on us on whatsapp and assisted us a lot. Muhammead on the location was also very helpful and welcoming. On your way stay on the highway until Bahla then go to Al Hamra do not follow google maps "shortcuts"

Great location and good value for money. Very close to the Jebel Shams walk. I would recommend this if you are exploring the region.

Being able to keep the door to the bathroom open would be good

This is my second time to come to Jabel Shams after 18 years and Jabal Shams Domes intrigued me enough to make the 6-hour drive from Suhar. As expected, the place is in a residential but very quiet area, the domes are designed for individual, couple, or family travelers just wanting to enjoy nature and each others' company. The weather at this time is cold compared to other places in Oman, making it an excellent time to gather around the campfire, share stories, and have coffee or even barbecue if you book for one. I plan to bring more friends and family over next time to see the majestic canyon and mountain ranges. If stargazing is also your hobby, this is one place you can enjoy it with their stargazing dome and from your dome as well. I am definitely coming back.

Although there is one sink near the dome, I would prefer one inside the bathroom since going out is especially chilly at night if you want to brush your teeth. there is also no wifi but as the owner said, the place is designed to enjoy nature and get away from technology which is one of the problems nowadays, it was no issue for me trying not to see messages or immediately post experiences on social media. so although I posted it here as a negative comment, the plan of detoxifying from social media worked.

Being a plastic dome, there are no windows that open, so any smell lingers The sink is outside of the dome, so inconvenient to wash hands after using the toilet No space to hang clothes The extra amenities listed don't really exist

We had been wanting to try out one of these domes for some time and it was a great experience. The place was cozy and clean. In comparison to the prior reviews I can add that there was a sink in our bathroom, so no need to leave the dome. There are three domes now and it seems a fourth one is about to be built. The dinner (not included) and the breakfast (included) at the nearby resort were very good and diverse. There are great places for sunset and sunrise views close by and it is only 10mins to the balcony walk. The owner was super responsive and supportive via WhatsApp. We only met the service support on-site, who was also very kind.

Okay for us, but something to note: the view is indeed towards the road and a mosque, so no breath taking mountain view, but it was what we expected. The one morning we spent there we were woken by a muezzin call at 5am, but it was only short and to be honest we wanted to wake up early for the sunrise, so this worked for us as well. The bathroom did not seem to have a ventilation system, at least we could not find it. We just kept the doors open for a while, so it worked, but this is something that could be improved.
