Ihlozi Bush Lodge

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Ihlozi as part of our special treat to ourselves for our 1st anniversary. The location is wonderfully peaceful in the bush and the lodge itself is a lovely and spacious place to stay and enjoy the surroundings. The new owner is currently refurbishing the property and it looks to be even better in the future. As it was for our stay everything is provided for a self-contained stay but catering is offered if you wish. We had Thandia provide us with one dinner and that was also a super experience with a big braai laid on and more food than we could possibly eat, although we gave it a good try! The owner, Mel, was very helpful and responsive before, during and after our stay which is always appreciated.

The only real niggle for us (as coffee-loving Aussies) was no provision of real coffee. There was an American-style drip filter machine but although the literature provided indicated that Mel is a coffee aficionado who roasts his own beans, we looked in every nook and cranny for some of his coffee and couldn't find any so we couldn't use it. We suggest that for accommodation of this standard guests could be provided with at least a Nespresso and milk frother, or a proper coffee machine (along with some of Mel's own roasted beans). Even an Italian stove top espresso maker would be handy!

Nothing not to like, a must visit

Open communication with the host prior arrival, and during the stay. Including a warm welcome late in the evening. The lodge looked exactly like the images on the booking app. The main room equals honey Moon suite not forgeting the out side showers for both rooms. The second room outside bathroom topped it all. Enjoyed the net bed and the main room lounge, dining, and kitchen deco and set up. The TV gets a plus point aswell. ✅✨

Length of stay was too short It would be a plus point for the host to add more condiments and amneties in the rooms i.e. Coffee and teas Supplies, shower gel and shampoo. Doom or repellent will do aswell.

We had a lively stay in this beautiful lodge.

The resort is very spacious with a secluded setting in the bush. As a party of 6 we had the lodge to ourselves and the catering utilities are top-notch.

First-time access at the main gate could be better. The guard asked for an access code, which we didn't have. The light in one of the toilets was blown and not replaced, and the air conditioning unit in one of the rooms needed repairs, but the repairman's schedule was full.

Karen and Thandi were absolutely amazing. The lodge was beautiful and perfectly situated. Love the outdoor showers. Karen checked up on us to ensure we were comfortable.
