The Georgetown Green Gates

Great location to Cheong Fatt Tze mansion, ferry terminal and the heart of George Town. A very adorable and comfortable accommodation, perfect for both short or long stay for they have a communal kitchen which you can use (water filter, fridge, dining table, sink and stove). Very handy if you do lots of 'tar pow'.

The very large rooms were misleading as the rooms seemed to be used as storage for furniture. The armoires were locked so we could not use them for hanging clothes and there even was an upright wine bottle cooler in the living room. Outlets were scarce. The hostess is absolutely charming.

The dirt. There was enough dust bunny under the bed to fill a pillow case. In fact the pillows should be rejuvenated. There were 2 pane glass windows facing a cement wall, no natural light. The 3 doors were shutters in wood. No natural light at all. The dust everywhere on the floors although at first we thought the floors were clean, we if in the dark they look clean. The kitchen which we thought was in the room was in a separate room. Again the dirty floor and cupboards.

Really lovely place to stay . It felt very central. The bed was very comfy and the room was very big and clean . Decor was beautiful . I can’t rate the staff as we didn’t meet any .

We were there for four nights our bins got full and it would have been good to have had some guidance about what to do with our rubbish etc . A second bin in the bedroom should be good .

Location central to heritage area. Room was large with everything we needed. Clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful and friendly with a free guided tour of the museum opposite. Perfect

Location as easy access to makan places ! Also the 'retro' feel of staying at an old house!

The location is the best! In the center of George Town but quite! The place is so clean! The perfect combination off preserving the old beauty and modern touch. Beautiful kitchen where you can cook your meal if you want. Every body is so helpful and nice and you even get to visit the museum for free, on the opposite of the street. Thank you it was great to stay at your place 🩷

The landlord is very nice. The Chinese-speaking Malaysian staff are also very friendly, the environment is great, and the homestay has its own unique features. I am very satisfied.

It’s a traditional shophouse with over 100 years history. The room was very spacious and newly renovated so it’s full equipped. We arrived early morning but was allowed an early checkin. The staff was very helpful, thoughtful and hospitable. We really enjoyed our stay there. Would definitely stay there if we visit Penang again!
