JOIVY Modern Flat on Rose Street

Well equipped and very clean apartment in a very central area of Edinburgh. Easy to check in and check out. Good facilities and bonus of single beds in the 2nd bedroom which is ideal if travelling with friends or family.

The 2nd bedroom can be cold due to there not being double glazing probably as its restricted. We found the shower to run too hot or go to cold - this may be user error.

Location is very good. Central to many shops, restaurants, pubs and public transports. Within walking distance to the Edinburgh Waverley station. We managed to walk down from Edinburgh castle all the way to the apartment, it was an easy walk down. However, wouldn't recommend it for walking up to the castle from the apartment unless hiking up is something you enjoy or capable of doing since it is quite a hike. The apartment is above a bakery but it didn't open until 9 AM. There is another cafe across the street, Indian restaurant and a pub next door. Has all the amenities that we need. Comfortable beds, warm, kitchen is sufficiently equipped. Keyless entry - using pin code keys. Easy check in and check out. The check in instructions with photos were very helpful as the front door was quite obscured. No wardrobe but sufficient drawers to keep clothes and other items. The area generally pretty quiet. We can hear the public walking and talking on the street below very clearly but after 11PM or midnight the street was very quiet. It was in December (winter) so not sure how it would be in summer when people might be out and about later than midnight.

One of the dining chairs were broken, so we had to sit very carefully on that chair. Fortunately we didn't use the dining room too much as we were out and about a lot. The combination of washing machine and dryer didn't work so well. Our clothes were still damp even after being in the dryer for a long time. So ended up having to hang them around the apartment to dry properly. Many of the pots and pans didn't work on the ceramic stove. Couldn't workout the exact bin to throw the rubbish at the end of the stay.

The apartment was located centrally which was great. It was clean and tidy on our arrival. The pictures on Booking.com are a true representation of what the apartment looks like.

The windows are sash windows which are not really noise-proof. We experienced multiple refuse collection trucks coming and going collecting refuse bins and bottle banks at all hours between midnight and 7 am which unfortunately did keep us awake.

Excellent location, close to restaurants, shops and public transport. The flat is well-equipped with pots, cutlery, towels, etc. Nice little living room. Information about how to use the washing machine, the heater, etc., is very good.

The street is pedestrian and it was a little noisy at times, during the day or at night, but it was not a major issue.
