Edinburgh West Side Hostel

Actually, it's a standard hostel — the beds are quite comfortable, there's a kitchen, and a small courtyard where you can sit outside. The location is excellent for Edinburgh; you can walk to the city center, and there's a wonderful park nearby.

However, what I really disliked was that the hostel manager, for some reason, thinks it's appropriate to enter the room with beds late at night, turn on the lights, and speak in a loud voice, which disturbed guests sleep. I believe this goes against the basic principles of hospitality — whether it's a five-euro hostel or a €1,000-per-night five-star hotel. Also, this hostel does not get cleaned every day. We stayed for two nights, and the dirt in the common areas had clearly accumulated over more than one, two, or even three days. I have attached a photo.

Easy going neighbourhood not so far from center. Jolly good local pub downstairs.
