The Stables Oceanfront Hotel Midigama

I'm really happy about my stay at The Stables, they hotel is newly opened - whole building is newly renovated, fresh and clean. Rooms are spacious with very nice raw minimalistic design and big windows. The building is just in front of Rams surf break, so you can watch surfers from your balcony (and bed) if you book the seaview rooms. It's close to everywhere, 5 min walking to Lazy Right and to Plantations surf breaks. The staff is very friendly and helpul. There is also a very cool and spacious roof top where I was doing my workouts! Highly recommend when staying in Midigama!

I had such a nice stay at The Stables! The staff are very welcoming and gave me good recommendations about surf spots, beaches, restaurants, cafés, etc. which was really helpful. My room was modern and very comfortable and had an amazing view of the ocean and the surf! Directly in front of The Stables is Rams, one of the advanced surf spots along the south coast. I'm not good enough to surf there but perfect spot to check the waves and watch the surf! And close by are more surf spots I could surf, so perfect location! Also, a bunch of restaurants are next door, which made it easy to get good coffee and breakfast in the morning before the surf.

Location is really good, right next to the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. They are sipping right outside, or about five minutes down the road there is one of the main surfing beaches. Also they arranged a scooter so I could explore the island. Really amazing value for money.

Nothing. It was perfect

The hotel is located right in front of the surf spot Rams and 3 min far from Lazy Left and Lazy Right! It felt like home! Staff just couldn't be nicer, they always had a big smile and were willing to help! Super clean as well. They installed a drinking water machine during our stay :)

Best spot in Midigama! I absolutely loved staying here. My room and bathroom were both clean and the bed was super comfy. I especially loved the mosquito nets on the hanging frames and the extra standing fan in your room which was a great touch to stay cool at night. The views over the ocean and the surf spot Rams is amazing. Location is great, within walking distance to several other great surf spots and restaurants. the staff here were very friendly and attentive!

A home away from home! 💜💜💜 A new fresh hotel at the best spot in Midigama. Me and my friend had an amazing stay here, it was our home away from home. Everyone from the cleaning staff, to the receptionist and the owners are amazing people who will have you feel right at home. It was 1000% the best place we stayed at during our 2 months in Sri Lanka and we even extended our stay to 3 weeks because it was so perfect! 💜💜💜 And perfect for surfers -> right across from Rams and 5 min walk to Plantations, Lazy Left, Lazy Right & Coconuts. 🥥 Short 5 min ride to Gas Station. Best breaks in the south of Sri Lanka.

Location great, right on the beach and Midigama is one of the quieter beaches in this stretch, so this was an equally quiet little spot in an new-ish building. The roof was nice for sunrise, although it doesn't feel setup to have people up there yet, which seems like a shame. Room overlooked the water, which was great, and I had good communication with the place before my arrival with no trouble getting into my room.

The room was a bit shabby. Now I have nothing in the area to compare it to, but I paid a little extra because I thought I'd get a little extra... but I arrived and there were bugs all over my bed. No air-con, which would've been fine I suppose but it scorching hot and made sleeping at night uncomfortable. A vaguely sewer-y smell from the basic bathroom. Worst was that you HAVE to have your windows open (the aforementioned no-aircon) at night, and just up the road is a nightclub that for many (although not all!) evenings it pumped out the crappest club music ever, all through the night. Not this place's fault, though worth bearing in mind. I also only saw the guy who runs the place exactly once. The downstairs bit wasn't open early in the morning, or past about 20.00 at night. It was all just... very ok.

I loved it! Great vibe, great rooms, location is perfect, staff’s super nice. Would recommend for anyone, really. Excellent value. Super smooth all around

Nothing really. No hot water but you really don’t need it (I usually think I need it and 100% would not have used it if given the chance)
