Beatiful Alfama, charming apartment

Location was perfect for us

Only things were that the coffee mugs wouldn't fit under coffee machine! Cups would have been better + bathroom was very dark, if you pulled shower curtain closed couldn't see anything. Some lights didn't work. Bed was tricky, wooden frame took up room and could hurt!

Beautiful and large space! Great location in Alfama and close walk into the Center. (Approx 1km) Close to the famous 28 Tram. Decorated lovely, comfortable bed. Nice and clean. There are some excellent restaurants near by and if you don’t feel like eating out the kitchen is great to cook in (there are 2 mini supermarkets right behind the apartment) Also close to the flea markets on Tues and Sat.

Overall it was great! (My partner is an electrician and noticed a few things that need to be fixed - I got a little zap off the light above the mirror in the bathroom) A few light globes need to be replaced as well. A clothes horse to dry your clothes inside when raining would be a great addition as well.

If you want to stay in Alfama the location is convenient

There were a lot of issues with my stay, and I was unable to stay for the entire booking due to the condition of the property, instead having to find suitable alternative accommodation. The apartment is run down and requires some urgent attention. There is a lot of visible mould in the bathroom and a strong smell of mould and mildew throughout the property. There is thick dust and grime in places, as if the apartment never has a deep clean. There is inadequate lighting in the shower. With the shower curtain shut (which is black) there is hardly any light entering the cubicle which felt unsafe. Bedside lamps were heavily stained and damaged. The bed blocks the entrance to the bedroom, and you have to physically climb over it every time to enter and exit the bedroom. It was hard to get luggage into and out of the bedroom as you had to lift it over the bed. The biggest problem for me was the overwhelming smell of sewage which was very unpleasant and difficult to tolerate, and it woke me several times throughout the night. The host did not respond to my message for 48 hours, after which I sent a follow up request for communication and they then responded. Overall the experience was very, very poor and the apartment is very overpriced for what you receive.

The location was perfect for exploring the city, with great cafes, shops, and transport links just outside . The host was easy and quick to respond to my questions.

I was a bit bothered by the smell of dampness, but I guess it is very normal since the buildings are really old. However you get used to it very quickly.

Excellent location, spacious living room and kitchen. It had all the necessities. Easy check-in.

The bed does not fit in the bedroom and is partially placed in the doorway so you have to climb over it to get to the bedroom or to go to sleep. This is not comfortable or good for people with mobility issues.

Amazing location, everything you want to see in the old town is in walking distance.

Localisation was near perfect, there were plenty of things to do nearby and a lot of charming alleys in the neighbourhood.

Sometimes the music from the restaurant next to the apartment was a bit loud, but not in a way to make it seem unbearable.
