Hotel The Botanik Sewoon Myeongdong

The hotel room was good and clean. The facilities in the hotel looks good but didn't get a chance to use it. There's a convenience store near receotion area that was very useful.

The hotel restaurant does not accommodate à la carte orders for breakfast. It's either a full buffet or nothing. I wanted to order just a coffee but had to go outside.

직원이 친절하고, 응대가 빠릅니다. 택배를 잘 받아 주셨어요. 호텔이 조용합니다. 호텔내에 편의점이 있어, 간식구매와 교통 카드 충전하기 편리합니다. 여행 중 하루 비가 왔는데, 리셉션에 구비된 우산을 이용했어요. 객실이 깨끗하고, 객실이 넓어서 편하게 지낼 수 있었어요. 2번 방에 에어컨이 설치되어 있지 않아요. 냉장고, 세탁기, 건조기, 에어 드레셔 등 가전 제품이 잘 구비 되어 있으며, 다리미는 필요할 때 리셉션에 문의하면 바로 줍니다. 공항 버스는 국도 호텔 앞에서 탈 수 있어요.

호텔 위치가 가장 아쉬었어요. 지하철 이용 할 때 많이 걸었어요. 호텔 주변이 공사중이고, 오후 시간대엔 문이 닫힌 세운 상가와 포장마차에 취객들로 인해 지하철 역과 공항 버스을 이용할 때, 주변 환경이 무서웠어요. 세면대 물이 안 내려갔어요.(수리 후에도 안 내려감) 체크 아웃 후 짐 보관시 유료입니다.

Walkable distance to Gwangjang Market, surrounding area was quiet and not busy compared to Myeongdong since hotel is located in Euljiro, slightly outside of the busy Myeongdong streets. We arrived late close to midnight and there were still receptionists available to do check-in. Alternatively, there were also machines for check-in/check-out, which was all very easy to use and the process was extremely smoothly. Lobby area had a very welcoming vibe even though we did not spend too much time there. Hotel was located on the 2nd floor, there were escalators and lifts available to get up there, and there was also 2 convenience stores, 1 of them was right outside the 2nd level of the hotel (sheltered), and the other one was across the small road. There was also a cafe downstairs if people needed a quick coffee/tea fix in the morning. The room we booked was spacious, suitable for 4 people. There was a living room area, tall table dining area, 1 main room and 1 makeshift room. There were also stoves, washing machine & dryer and a clothing sterilizer available. Indoor slippers were provided too. Shower has strong water pressure and hair dryer has strong power too. The hotel also provides a paid self-locker service which we utilized after out check-out for the whole day, which was priced reasonably to me. If i remember correctly, the first 4 hours was 5,000won and subsequent 2-hours were 3,000won each. I think it was free for public as well. Overall, I would definitely come back again with my family and recommend to everyone.

I wish the top-up of complimentary water was automatic everyday instead of us having to request from receptionist, even on days where we had our rooms made. Aircon setting was slightly weird to use, my friend said that it turned off in the middle of the night but there was no timer set (aircon control only had 2 buttons and none of it had timer settings). Hotel room drawers were wooden and had a pungent smell (I believe it was Formaldehyde as the hotel room seems quite new), and it was quite unpleasant when we opened the drawers for utensils/cups, so we avoided doing that afterwards. Storage for luggage is not complimentary unlike most hotels so that was unfortunate (the paid self-locker service was great and easy to use though). Just for everyone's info: The locker storage had bottom and top storages, and I was quite unlucky that most bottom levels were used up so I had to choose a top level, which meant that I had to lift my luggage up above my head to store the luggage. This might be challenging for people who don't have the strength/ ability to do this.

Beds were comfortable and facilities modern.

There are not many restaurants around the hotel, and we have to travel out for breakfast since we didn't get the hotel buffet. The view from the room was terrible - construction scraps which were unappealing.

location is very good, close to subway, traditional market and the beautiful palace. The facilities in the hotel is wonderful although it takes me sometime to figure where is the laundry machine and dryer machine. Really suite for a family of 4 to stay while visiting Seoul.

I just see only one staff doing the house keeping. It seems a burden for her. Even thought, she still did a great job to clean the house.
