Powerful Aircon and strategy location

Noisy coz by the passing vehicle n downstairs restaurant operate till late night

Location the best! Room, bed and toilet are very clean. With hair dryer, hanging rack inside the rooms, enough power plugs for changing phones and powerbanks. The owner is very responsive. They are giving very clear instructions for parking and self-check-in instructions.

The toilet does not come with any clothes hanger or hook, so it is inconvenient to hang the clothes while taking a bath. The rooms is upstairs (2nd floor), when we reached is on Wednesday 6pm, the 1st impression when we enter into the shop (downstairs), is was very dark, a bit scary because it's unexpectedly nobody in. I would suggest the owner can check the shop open hours before hand to inform the customer.

Positive things first: The room is very good: confortable and spacious. We were there with our children, they slept upstairs and we were down. The rooms does however need a bit of renovation, especially paint on some walls. We had fresh towels and soap / shampoo which was appreciated. The bed sheets were very clean. The room decoration is very nice.

Negative points: However, the sound insulation is very bad. You can hear people in the restaurant below speaking…you can hear all sounds, including phone notifications. The floor needs soundproof insulation. We were lucky because the restaurant was not open during our stay, but I think it’s very annoying during weekends. On our first night, the restaurant owner made some works until 1 am…we could hear every sound, it was very annoying. On our third night, they started moving tables and chairs until midnight. Impossible to sleep before that time. They were speaking loud and screaming, without caring about us. The street is also noisy. You get woken up several times per night. The windows should be replaced with double glass. Furthermore, there was no Wi-Fi as promised in the ad. This was a problem for us because we expected it and needed it. Apparently it was undergoing maintenance (we were there 3 nights and it never worked). The TV also did not work given it was connected to the wifi.

Location surrounded with food, cafes and pubs.

Would like a bigger sink for rinsing/washing kid's bottles, mount on clothes hook in toilet, free WIFI. By the way, parking rates revised.

Superb location right at the front end of Jonker Street.

- Hassle to make the deposit if you don't have the eTNG wallet (Touch n Go). Had to pay extra bank fees if you use bank transfer, and owner can only refund via eTNG. - The spiral stairs not ideal for children or elderly folks. - There is no sink on the 1st level, making it very very inconvenient as we have to either leave the apartment to use the sink at the cafe downstaits or climb up the stairs to the toilets. - The sinks outside tge toilets are small, making it hard yo do any proper washing. - The fans upstairs responded erractically to the remote control. When we turned off the fan in one tent, the fan in the next tent got activated! Took us a lot of tries to finally turned off all of them as the aircon was cold enough. - No TV to watch, have to use own netflix account. Please state all these in your description. Quite disappointing.

Location is superb- riverside, Jonker Street. Interior design.

After a night walk at Jonker Street, back to the guesthouse to find that the gate was locked. Tried the pin number given, but the lock couldn't be opened. Tried calling the numbers given, but no one answered. Then, another group of tenants from inside the guesthouse wanted to go out. Similarly, they couldn't open the lock (both were given the same pin number). We spent around half an hour opening the lock, but to no avail. Almost wanted to call police and prepared to go to another hotel at midnight, as we couldn't let kids sleep in the corridor. Then, luckily, it was found that the gate was faulty and could be opened from the side without opening the lock (yes, the safety of the premise is actually non-existent). No staff was there yet by 930am the next day. We just went in and out through the side of the gate. A scare that would have turned into a nightmare if we didn't find the gate defect.

The fan is quite dusty. Maybe put a sink at the first floor.

Quaint. Central to old Melaka and near the markets (held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Accommodation is above the restaurant and you can hear everything!!!!! The boom box, played on repeat for many hours until closing and their cleaning up, was coming through the floor into my bedroom loudly. We asked for it to be turned down at 10pm and they were not happy with the request!

Absolutely loved the authenticity of the property and the vicinity. However was aware it was in a busy street but due I guess to no insulation which is the nature of the building the noise from the cafe downstairs was so loud. It wasn’t particularly busy but the staffs voices just carried and until 1 am. Would have stayed longer but not for us If you are a night owl all well and good but come 11 I need my sleep
